A long weekend in Weymouth but got cut short with power supply. Got moved to another property but it had had a flood
Kitchen floor was wet, I thought they had just mopped it. Next morning on phone to Sykes. Big bollocking to them. Bedding was damp too. Went back to original property. Great for 24 hours... Then darkness. So back to Stafford.. Avoid sykes.. Terrible customer service..

I booked with Sykes for a Weymouth holiday a few years ago, I didn't have any issue but perhaps I was lucky. As an alternative may I suggest holidaycottages.co.uk, I used them for a Brixham holiday.

We used Sykes twice earlier this year for dog friendly cottages. Had no problems at all with them both cottages were really good. I suppose it’s all down to each individual property/owner, Sykes are only the booking agent. We had a query about the first cottage before booking & that was answered very quickly by their customer service team but that was our only dealing with them.

Just paid the balance on our christmas holiday (with fingers crossed hubbys cardiologist appointment/ op isn't for during that period . They seem to make appointments at the weekend and bank holidays each time... couldn't take out holiday insurance :hmm:) .

Can't believe christmas is only just over 4 weeks away , I don't feel very christmassy at the moment but looking forwards to a nice break away.

I've used Sykes a couple of times with differing experiences.

The first was they weren't interested in resolving issues we had at a cottage in Scotland and left it for me to resolve directly with the owner.

The second the cottage near Skipton was exactly as described and no issues.

Then last year they emailed me during our visit to Southwold to see if everything was ok and if we needed any help from them.

I usually use Hoseasons or holidaycottages.co.uk but I think they all very similar to be honest.

The holiday home that we hired privately for many years was sold last year and new owners put for rental under Sykes cottages.

We found Sykes staff very professional when booking a week .

Then holiday brochure in property informed they were changing , from the day we were due to leave it , for " Holiday Cottages.com'

Rang Holiday cottages about booking for next year as unable to book it on line with it saying it was full , and bloke on phone was most unhelpful saying we couldn't book as either prices not out yet , or owners not going to renew contract with them... " ring us back sometime next year"

Then on a reply to my good review , cottage owner said they had gone back to Sykes again.

We were very impressed with Sykes service but maybe got lucky with knowing we had a good property from staying previously.

Just back from a few days in Norfolk.
Stayed in a gorgeous B&B, although we were in the shepherds hut at the bottom of the garden. Idyllic.

Spent a very pleasant few hours mooching in Holt (which we loved) then went over to Hunstanton but stayed there less than 15 minutes, not our cup of tea. Meandered back through some lovely villages.

The main purpose of our visit though was to visit the Thursford Christmas Spectacular, the biggest Christmas show in Europe.
It totally exceeded our expectations , just took our breath away, a truly stunning show.
