Horse & Jockey, Penkridge.

Hoping to open asap. Food will be from Jaspers, extension built, former assistant manager from The Sun taking over from what I gather.
We will indeed be opening in January.
Bar snacks like cobs & rolls will be available however we are unable to say whether they will be from Jaspers or not. This will be a conversation to have with Jaspers as I know their food is amazing !

No previous assistant manager associated with the Sun Inn is currently part of the team however myself and my fiancé look forward to seeing you when we do open.

Opening times, draught beers, food service times, Facebook page or website? Dogs or children welcome? Date of opening? Just interested
Noah,
Opening times are subject to discussion and the premises license.
I can’t confirm anything else till the brewery have set the terms but we will accommodate everyone and anyone we can.

I will publish everything when it is time to.
Please keep an eye out for our opening date.

Everyone is welcome.

I used to be a regular at the H&J when growing up in Penkridge. I haven't been in the pub for a number of years now but looking forward to giving it a try when it does reopen.

When I was growing up in Penkridge it had lots of very good pubs, sadly both the number of pubs and the quality of the remaining pubs has been in decline for several years, so much so that I now rarely return to Penkridge for a drink. Hopefully, that will now change.

Ok. 12 Handpumps, BCA BFG, Pig on the Wall, Fireside; two ciders; 7 rotating guest ales. Opened out into one meandering area, the notorious toilets have gone, disabled toilet on ground floor the rest upstairs. Hours noon-11pm, noon to midnight Fri & Sat. Manager Michael ex Shrew. Well worth a visit (or several).

So quite good apart from too many beers and toilets upstairs ?

No, Allied Breweries set up Holt, Plant and Deakin in 1984 as a localised real ale brewer but both Oldbury and Wolverhampton breweries were closed in 1996 . The name was based on the Holts Brewery in Birmingham taken over by Ansells in 1934 and closed forty years later.
There's still a long established Holts Brewery in Manchester.
