Bit late to start mourning what used to be, eh?

We lost those years ago and nobody batted an eyelid then.
I did :(

I used to work in the Old Hough for ages whilst our GEC Measurements office was being altered and then they seemed to forget we were there ..
Best days of my 24 years at GEC.

Old Hough used to be a nice big old house where the subway used to be (facing the old peoples apartments now) , secret passageways behind the walls , air raid shelter in the grounds , squirrels knocking at the windows for snacks. Used to be a stable block building behind still in use at the time by the New Hough. We used to get shouted at for taking a short cut through there at lunchtimes to Stychfields club in the middle of the factory grounds.

Apparently, according to staff, Home Bargains @ The Hough isn't closing & moving , a 3rd Home Bargains will be opening @ Queens. So maybe silly gossip after all....

With homes earmarked for the old GEC site it's only natural that the people owning the Hough would be open to offers.
That's the thing though.... The current owners are in receivership....

It's being sold as an investment opportunity. I still cannot see someone wanting to axe everything to flog for housing.....

Thing is, many businesses will have struggled during the pandemic and lockdown years. Doesn't make them unviable, often the problem is the owners over-extending themselves. Example being an old friend who had a betting shop years ago, his father had run it for years but when his father retired he took it over and took too much money out. One big win and he was out of business.

Buying property to rent/lease is often just as much a gamble.
