i'd normally agree - i'm not a fan of skins/customer UI in general - but sense is just so lovely i want to touch it with my winkle

digging deeper, it looks like speech-to-text might be disabled because the desire is not officially a "google experience" branded phone, and since speech-to-text relies on google's servers they're not allowed to include it..

Just found this:

"I've had my Desire 2 days - got the completely unbranded sim-free one; absolutely no mention of speech or voice to text anywhere - apparently the only way to get round this is install some dodgy Verizon keyboard which is a real shame..."

So looks like even though mine is unlocked / unbranded I still can't have it without the keyboard change.
