@John - Yeah I remember having an Amstrad PCW with dot matrix printer too. I remember printing what I thought were really professional looking leaflets for car washing services with it. (I must add that I was about 12!)

Back in 1998 I had one of these mp3 players. Not much smaller than a mini disc player, it held 28 minutes of CD quality music....

our (singular) computer room at school was full of these bad boys:

When I went to the Poly it was mostly done with teletypes - almost no screens back in them days. They could be quite violent at times and we used to break into other people's stuff and blag in a cycle of tabbing the print head from side-to-side, hundreds of line-feeds and there was also a command to ring the bell - great fun when an infected person typed 'RUN' - paper would spew out, whilst the whole machine walked across the floor clanging the bell!!.

We also wrote down the sequence of the letters on the belt of the line-printer and asked it to print lines where the letters required it to strike with all seventy six hammers at the same time.

My first, and so far, only, turntable - 1978 Sony PS212 direct drive..

And my second speakers - Wharfedale W4s, bought second-hand in the '80s for £35 - bargain!! Not compact, but still good at nearly fifty years of age..

Mmm, might have had it for spares, if it wasn't nearly in Norway. They were £70 new in 1964 - basically a month's money then...
