what up, homies..

traffic into work (i.e. around 08:00) was a nightmare this morning, far worse than usual.. when i got to lammascote garage, i found out why - the babylon were coning off riverway (i.e. the right turn as pictured here) and putting up blue "police incident" signs.. as i drove past, i could see at least 2 fire engines parked up on riverway/fairway, and there were a few ambulances flying about..

anyone know wha' g'warn? i've checked a couple of local news sites and haven't found anything..

Saw that at 7.30, loads of fire men sweeping and doing stuff, must have been 20 men in yellow jackets, a gritting lorry and a large box lorry seem to be involved.

Rumour has it that a lorry turned into riverway, hit the barriers and split it's fuel tank spilling diesel all over the road. He didn't know until he ran out of fuel. Could be closed for a while as diesel is supposed to dissolve tarmac.

That junction should be "no right turn" anyway! I am of the belief that Riverway is the entire cause behind the Lichfield Road being so RAMMED almost every friggin' day!

I heard the same apart from the diesel part..... I was told he was carrying solvents, glue etc.. and thats what ended up on the road!

yeah, shortly after posting this thread i text a forumite who lives on west close (the little cul-de-sac just off fairway/riverway) and he confirmed it was a lorry that shed its load.. although he didn't know details, so it could have been a split tank, as per mrs m..

no right turn?? you mentalist lol.. it's already no right turn at the other end (if you're travelling into town on the lichfield road).. if you keep "no right turning" then no-one will ever be able to go down it! lol..

Took me a very long time from Walton too. Infact, I hate Stafford traffic normally... but this morning nearly made me want to cry!

But then if i was being a real man about the situation i'd just ride my bike and save the atmosphere so i can't really complain.

I'm just heading off to Baswich - on my bike - I'll see if I can survey the situation on the way and report later...

When i came out of town this morning approx 11am the road was open again and traffic flowing both ways at the crossroads by Lloyds TSB, have not been back down that way this afternoon so can't comment on if its changed again.

Can you report before i have to leave work to go home?!
Hopefully, you're displaying some loyalty and are still at work. It all seemed to be flowing as normal. There seemed to have been a spillage of some sort - there was a 'Slippery Road' sign - and evidence that they had 'carefully spread a layer of granular absorbant material'* and then hoovered it up.

* OR 'chucked down some chicken-shit' - as we used to say when a hydraulic pipe came off - again.....

I heard at work that a lorry decided to take an illegal short cut, which resulted in him taking out the barriers, lights and his own fuel tank.

Considering it's a street with a weight limit, I wonder if he invalidated his insurance...

The Pink Mist - those really were the days.

I remember once putting my key in the door on Tixall Road and clearly hearing an AS 'machine gunning' in Development - most of a mile away..

I went down Riverway earlier tonight and saw that a wall at the front of one of the houses near the traffic lights has been knocked down so I imagine the lorry hit it.
