Just for fun: With Bates Gun shop now sold, what would the forum like to see on the Market Square?

@gilbert grape I don't think the pub landlord is a Stafford forum user, they just did a pop up pub on Saturday, whilst the cheese & ale festival was on.
There is loads of fitting still to happen before they can open properly, he still needs to put in light fittings, a bar & tables & chairs etc so I can't imagine it will be opening for a few weeks yet. @LLFC and the bar no.7 landlord have done a excellent job with keeping the integrity of the building and if the atmosphere on Saturday is anything to go by its going to be an amazing place and a real asset to the town. I believe it's going to specialise in gin & bottled beer.

Can't wait :stafford::pint::stafford:
A little birdie tells me that they may pop up again this Saturday (early doors) with the back now painted along with the toilets. The new owner of the business is still awaiting bar building, lighting and flooring (none of which are on my list of tasks to be completed). I think the official opening will be three weeks time.

I'm really looking forward to this bar and I'm glad it's going to offer something different. Stafford has got an excellent choice of pubs now.

Just been speaking to the landlord and he tells me there is another pop up bar tomorrow !

Word is certainly getting round, by various means - in the five hours since I posted that, the "likes" have more than quadrupled.

Success would appear to be at hand.

I'm loving everything about this place and it's not even open full-time yet!
The simplicity is great, ok, I'm sure it's not simple behind the scenes but heck I don't want to see that bit, I'm a pinter punter.

I can see myself being torn between visiting the floodgate or No.7 market square. I suspect my wife will prefer to visit No.7 market square but I do love the rustic nature of the floodgate.

I am delighted that the landlord decided to come to Stafford and is now expanding his empire!

I shall probably frequent No. 7 more often, simply because its location is closer to my house and my OHs work! Ciders permitting, of course ;)

I don't see it as much of a problem either, it's not like one is 500 miles from the other!

I'm presuming i'll fancy No.7 more as it's closer to my other favourites; Market Vaults and Rose&Crown, but heck I will walk to Floodgates if I fancy it.

Use ya legs while you can.

Now you see, I don't view that as a problem.

Visit both.

Couple of pints at the Floodgate. Walk it off on the way to No.7, followed by a couple of pints to recover from the exercise.

For variety, visit the other way round. :)

I am looking forward to visiting both. Stafford is becoming spoilt for choice for decent pubs.
