Thank you so much,
@Carole
I’ve been a vegetarian for nearly forty years. It’s hugely important to me but my husband and most of my friends eat meat.
I really like your attitude. You don’t want to eat meat but if someone else wants to eat meat then that’s up to them. Vive la difference and all that.
I’m always keen to learn about different things. I popped my head in the door of the “vegan thread” but, oh my goodness me, that place isn’t for the faint-hearted.
So much vitriol towards meat eaters, too many judgemental comments such as “I don’t know how you can live with yourself” and such like.
Comments such as these are neither helpful nor constructive.
Anyway I scuttled off out of that thread, (after being told to f*ck off) which is a total shame because my son and his girlfriend are vegetarian and I’m always on the lookout for tips and helpful hints.
I already knew about the Parmesan and I knew about gelatine. I made the mistake of buying them gummy sweets. I now now that you can buy wine gums, gummy sweets minus gelatine but it’s all a learning curve.
I personally don’t eat a huge amount of meat myself, I adore fish and the vegetables are the best bit of the meal.
I’m currently, while typing this in the process of making a veggie lentil soup ( no chicken stock or ham hock), however I just don’t think that I could be a vegetarian myself.
Huge kudos though to those with the willpower, the determination and the commitment to the cause.
I admire you.
And thank you to those who don’t condemn us non veggies for choosing a different path.
