XP home connects to networks fine, just can't connect to a domain. Even I don't have one of those!

yeah, but you are forced to use simple file sharing.. if you want to log onto a remote machine as anything other than Guest, you can't..tek-monkey said:XP home connects to networks fine, just can't connect to a domain. Even I don't have one of those!
weird, i was always under the impression home would only use simple file sharing.. any time i've tried logging onto another machine from an xp home box, the username field has been greyed out!Wookie said:Well, my XPHome laptop logs on to my 2K desktop just fine, with my 2K username which isn't "guest"? Certainly so I can listen to mp3s on the laptop and play video on the Xbox, anyway.
Interestingly, we also use Novatech desktops at work (state of the art, we are lol) - I bought three of these - just add a hard drive and optical drive and you're away! Very good machines for £210 all in!Wookie said:Well, it's payday at the end of the week. So I'm going to keep looking this week, with the bar set by the Axses. I've also discovered I can apparently get 3% off by going through Quidco, which will help.
I'm now looking at Novatech desktops, particularly this one. Be still, my twitching Add To Basket finger.
I take it this is a Monkey Island 2009 machine?wmrcomputers said:fair doos. i assume thats based on a 160Gb hard drive or something?
I've quoted wookie up at £260 with 1TB hdd, 3Gb ram, dual core 2.7GHz, fully built and installed ready to go. Obviously that includes my wee bit of profit for my time n efforts. Does that sound a fair price or do you know of anything more viable online?
EDIT:- sorry missed your links... 160Gb as I thought. Thinking about the extra 840Gb plus someone's time and effort setting it all up I assume my price is reasonably healthy.
