This year, thefordsquad are taking their decadent revellries outside, in the form of filling the acoustic tent at this year's Live at the Castle festival with acoustic/comedy/poetry orientated talent on the 13th of July

If you can play or know someone you think would go down well then THEFORDSQUAD NEEDS YOU!

PM us if you wanna play, this event's bill is gonna fill up quickly so be quick!

I understand my missus has already PM'd you but just wanted to confirm the Muffcakes would be keen to play.

Sounds like a plan, I have a mate who would like to play and I could do a couple of numbers myself if there's room.. :)

Took me about an hour to find this thread but I knew there must be a reference somewhere...

I have a work colleague who is keen to play an acoustic set for 2011 if poss. It would be him on guitar and a drummer (on drums)

He currently does quite a bit in Stone at Royal Exchange, Granvilles etc. Quite possibly everything is a cover.

Nobody will notice... isn't everybody usually rolling down the hill at 4.30pm most summers anyway??

How do they go about trying out for it?

I know he's a Stone-y but he's alright. Honest...

Your best bet is to either contact The Ford Squad (who I believe were...instrumental...in the show last year and possibly previous years), or perhaps to speak to other artists who have played there. You'll find quite a few on here, and lots others at the local jam nights.

Just a warning, but rumours abound that there'll be no festival this summer on account of the current round of government funding cuts.

If it gets the chop perhaps it would be time for the Stafford Forum Festival. As the Business/Pie Club has already show - together we are mighty!

Depends on how many people are anticipated to turn up/how many tickets would be available for sale etc. as to levels of security, promotion etc. needed.

On a side note, does anyone know what has happened to thefordsquad?

Still around but not performing/promoting as regularly. Mark is now part of a new act by the name of Toybox.

Some Ford Squad nights at Bird/Shrew were superb, Live at the Castle has IMO disintegrated a tad over recent years becoming more of an excuse for people to generally 'shit up' the castle grounds whilst not listening to music. A Forum festival sounds like a great idea though.

we did have a bank holiday weekend party at the railway a few years back which sort of coincided with the stafford music festival and saw various forum members taking the stage (or the pergola).

a good day was had by all irc....but that may just have been the gin! lol

Up to now the Live@ event has piggybacked on the Shakespeare play and the infrastructure already in place. No doubt Live@ may be in the firing line but isn't the Shakespeare gig also looking doubtful?

If the play goes so goes the show.

until now the live@ has always been free...maybe they will start charging for it?

They've charged £2 or something for the last couple of years.
