Just realised I'd not mentioned on here, but Mango is bullying Ollie when we aren't about. Over food again, but worse if we aren't there. Heard a loud noise yesterday morning while on the toilet, luckily my brother was up and went to see what was happening. Found ollie cowering under the desk shaking with a lot of saliva on him, Mango nearby with a pack of buffalo ears she'd managed to climb up and steal (god knows how, camera doesn't cover that point, but they were too high for her?!?!?). Seems she'd pulled them down then gone for ollie when he approached, poor thing was scared of her all day. Took til lunch time before he'd go near her again, but stayed very wary. He literally climbed into my arms rather than walk past her, and he's not a dog that likes being picked up. I wonder if some of his aggression is taking out frustration?

I suppose she thinks she was there first, so she's definatly his boss, but poor Ollie hormones are telling him he should be leader of the pack.

    Time to add another camera!

Baby Bobby is being bossed around endlessly by the other 2 dogs, and has learnt that when he doesn't want to go home, he just lies down!

Anyone else with dogs, is he a bit young to be done? He'll be a little under 6 months on the day of the op, some places online are saying thats way too young but surely if there were above normal risks involved the vet would have said so? Nick didn't seem concerned, I should probably avoid the internet for such questions!

He looks lovely! I almost wish mine would do this, instead they keep going flat out til you make them stop, then are exhausted and don't move once home. Its a lot more convenient but not good for their health.

I trust Nick but I would wait to see if Ollie grows out of the aggressiveness. It might be him just trying to establish/ understand where he belongs in the doggy hierarchy.

Gelding does cure a lot of aggression issues but I don't think it would hurt waiting for a couple of months.

Then again I could be talking a pair of balls :)

His aggression only seems to be with new dogs, and it's literally every new dog at the moment. Any he knows already though he's great with, submissive even! Had to walk out of puppy class loads of times this week because he couldn't last more than a few minutes before the snarling started. Even bit me when I tried to intervene by distracting him with a ball, wasn't his fault as I put myself in his way but if that was a child I'd be saying goodbye to him for good.

I'm resigned to the fact he's going to be done at some point, just wary that being so early could harm him.

If Nick says it's the right thing to do, it's the right thing to do.

So we got Ollie down to the vets this morning and he got a reprieve, his balls survive for another week! Only one has descended, so the surgery to find the other can be as invasive as for females and a longer recovery time than usual. The (much pricier) alternative was keyhole surgery, much less invasive so less damage, but they can only do one a day and they already have someone in today. So he's come back home with us, due back Monday for another go.

    Here's a photo from our pre-vet walk:

Early days yet, obvs but you'll need some sort of strategy for acclimatizing the dogs to the little one when he/she arrives, as I'm sure you already know.

I've still got the dog crate @Thehooperman lent me, they're fine til the kids about 2 yeah?

On a more serious note yup, we know that will be a bit of an upheaval for them. Not planned yet what we're going to do but it's on the (very damn long) list of things to do. I have about 5 months to do all the jobs I've been putting off for a decade too :help:

The poor lad, having his balls removed before he’s even had chance to lick them properly. :heyhey:

Ancient joke adapted to be Forum specific: @tek-monkey "Ollie stop licking your balls".

    @EasMid "I wish I could do that".

@tek-monkey "well, if you give him a bone and ask him nicely he might let you do it" :)

Slight warning. Our Welsh collie Meg decided that stepdaughter didn't know how to look after her new baby (puppy in Meg's eyes) so tried to teach her how to wash it etc.

Just dropped Ollie off, his second ball descended this weekend so no need for keyhole surgery. Was very reluctant to let him go (my OH much more so, surprisingly), but in he is. Paying the extra for blood tests pre-anaesthetic as an extra precaution, but still not feeling great about it. And now I have a hormonal pregnant missus who's even less happy about it, and I'm working from home!

Just had a call from the vets, apparently the bloods we had done pre-op showed he's a little anaemic. Said it could be an anomaly, and she was willing to go ahead anyway, but wanted to see if we'd rather wait a week and have him checked again in case we have another issue that needs addressing. I may be being over cautious but the op is cancelled today, his balls survive another week.
