Xrays confirm it's HD, so genetic although reading up it's possible we could have made it worse by letting her exercise so much :(

A month of rest, never off lead, which she's going to hate. Pain meds, and a re-eval after that to see what can be done to ensure it's managed properly. Has a spike on the bone which they hope will sort itself out, but will be what cause the pain.

Enjoying a drop of red.
The Labrador we had before we started collecting miniature schnauzer's had it. An operation when she was 11 months old followed by treatment that she took with her food more or less sorted out for the 15 years I had her. She was happy, energetic and took part in everything, so chin up, the vets will sort her out I'm sure.

Been a while so thought I'd give an update. Mango is on weekly injections along with daily painkillers, but she's a lot better. It's heartbreaking having to keep her on the lead, but if alone and we're just walking she's been OK so we've been to the chase a few times and let her off. She's getting a lot better in the car, although Ollie still isn't keen

Was about to reply about car sickness in another thread, but this place makes more sense.

Both of mine were terrible, even the next street would set them off. Apart from vets we just avoided it for a while, a trip to the chase resulted in me getting the carpet cleaner out for the back seat! The last 2 weeks or so they've improved though, they are currently 20 and 26 weeks, with the younger one more likely to vomit but the older drools loads still. Maybe it's an age thing?

Actually the drooling may be worry, as she did it when I left her in the car too but was fine when she saw mme return (my partner was still in there with her).

Hmmm they got her in Feb when she was 5 months old...

He's been trying that, even a 2minuite drive to a lovely park that she loves means a car full of projectile vomit, same on the way home.
.... Still I suppose they've only had her 3 months, maybe it's not enough for her to be accostomed to now.

He took her to cannock chase last week for a walk, had to cover the car in old towls, bagged them up when he got there, and put more down for the trip home, which again were bagged up & binned when they got home. Such a shame as she loves going on walks.

Mine were the same, we got a waterproof cover for the back seats which is helping keep most at bay. It's a bit like a picnic blanket with plastic backing, and elastic straps to hold it in place.

Realise I'll need to provide photos, and they'll follow shortly, but just wanted to say both dogs handled the driving this weekend exceptionally well. Mango was ill once on the way to Wales, Ollie immediately escaped onto the parcel shelf til we could clean up. Not long home and both managed nearly 3 hours without issue. Ollie slept most of the way, Mango felt the need to supervise my driving but was otherwise great.
