The shots from space are mind boggling ....

Yeah, I quite like the idea of it being on the other side of the planet...

It may well be that the pressure effects around the antipode, as the wave 'comes back together again', may make the effect greater than places half-way round, where it's 'diluted' over a larger area - the geographical antipode would be around the southern point of Algeria, but the planet (and the atmosphere) isn't smoothly symmetrical and the 'pressure antipode' could well be a bit offset and vary with time?

Looking at that area on Google Earth you can see the originating island of Hung Ha Apai, about 40 miles north of Tonga. The seabed is littered with craters there as it is very close to a huge tectonic plate boundary. Some reports are suggesting the island has been significantly altered by the eruption. At some time somebody was on that island and took a pix which is shown on Google Earth. The Google Earth seabed terrain display is quite good.

Yes seeing those videos of the shock wave coming in ... not the tsunami, but an atmospheric shockwave, makes this one a hugely explosive event. Literally blew the island apart. A Krakatoa style event.

Came across a SciFi movie on Amazon Prime last night that blew me away because, not only was it a gripping movie, it was also made with a ZERO budget. I would rate it as one of my top three 'first contact' movies. So here the three are:

Is that the Moon Under Water or a different pub? 😂😂😂
No, just looking eastwards the best blood moon I've ever seen. Too late now.
But do you remember the Bradford Arms at Ivetsy Bank being the Harvest Moon for a few years ?

If you're willing to get up about an hour to 45 minutes before sunrise and have a clear sky with a good view to the southeast horizon you can see three fairly bright planets, Saturn, Venus and Mars all relatively close together. That's the ringed planet, the brightest and closest planet, the best explored planet given the rovers trundling about on its surface.
Quite a view considering the vast distances ... (although Astronomically speaking they're in our back yard.)

Venus 63,000,000 miles
Mars 175,000,000 miles
Saturn 991,000,000 miles

Distances rounded a bit because I like typing zeroes.
