How is she today @littleme ?
She only ate a tiny bit of chicken this morning, but she has just eaten Ham & more dreamies & so she's also had her Metacam medicine (if she didn't eat then she couldn't have the medicine & would have to go back to the vets for an injection).

Shes been stretching in the cage, & using her back legs to scratch, but she's not wee'd or poo'd yet...

I'm not sure what it all means, & she doesn't seem as happy as she was last night - she's not purring. I think I will have to speak to the vet tomorrow, especially if she still doesn't 'go' . :(

How's today been for the poor little thing @littleme?
It started of quite badly when I got up to find her lying in her own wee :( & then she wouldn't eat breakfast....but throughout the day she's managed a wee in the litter, eaten a whole (tiny) can of Sheba, *2 prawn crackers & 32 Dreamies - so a much better end to the day, thanks for asking. :)

She will only eat if she's fed by hand, which is strange - & she has mostly slept all day again, she's still not interested in being fussed & still not purring...

*this is not her normal diet, the vet said she could have whatever she would eat.....I haven't broken out the custard creams or Doritos yet!

My Piskie dog once wasn't eating in the vets when she was very poorly , and they asked us to ring her a bowl of weetabix to the surgery that she normally had each morning. She still wouldn't eat it out of the bowl, but scoffed it down when I sat under the vets desk with her feeding it cupped in my hands.

Whatever it takes to get food down her, go along wth it. She must be in so much pain wth a broken pelvis and probably perked up and looked a lot happier that first night because she was back at home.

Still keeping everything crossed for her . Come on Sophie, we are all rooting for you here !

I hope the little precious will recover quickly. Our darling boy - black cat - got hit by a car a few months ago and we took him to Park House Vets. Ben, the vet, said he had shirring injuries and it was not good. His front left paw had been hit and he said it might just be fixable but he couldn't tell at that stage but his right back leg was skinned and looked just like a chicken bone. He said, "Basically, the missing bone has been ground into the road!" He said he would do his best but he had a long way to go. His mouth had also copped it and he lost a tooth - all the less to bite us with! To cut a long story short, he reconstructed the leg and paw somehow and told us not to let him jump up and keep him quiet. He is a very active cat, full of personality and, to see him like that was absolutely heartbreaking, so I know what it is like for you. We doted on our boy morning and night, like you, and I knew we would get him through it.

I made him a bed in the bottom of my wardrobe and he stayed there for 2 days and then started to emerge. We had to keep taking him back to the vet's to be checked and Ben could not believe how well he was recovering. He said it was a spectacular recovery and he really hadn't expected to be able to save his back leg. He said he had full use back, and he just didn't expect it.

Now, he is back to his old cheeky self but we don't let him out at night anymore. We've always had cat/s. I just couldn't imagine the house without one. I am so used to them that, if I hold a baby or stroke a puppy, I expect it to purr!

By the way, to get his anti-biotics down him, we crushed them in fromage frais.

Sophie broke her back left leg in April & she rarely leaves the house now for more than 10 minutes at a time, so its very very unusual for her to be away from home at all.

She is a small black cat with a white chest & was wearing a red sparkley collar. She is not chipped. She's not very friendly although she doesn't bite or scratch & is quite timid.

Please keep a look out for her, she has been missing for 3 days now & as she is my 10yr old daughters cat & she's very upset that she's missing....thank you.

ARE ALL THREE OF THOSE BEAUTIFUL CREATURES YOURS, LITTLE ME?

Yes they are @sarsaparilla Pheobe is the little kitten - she's very naughty, then there's Tommy & Sophie who are brother & sister. Sophie was hit by a car last week & has a broken pelvis.

Todays update....
Sophies eaten half a packet of ham, nearly a whole tiny tin of Tuna cat food & 10 dreamies, she wee'd in the litter (its in a flat tin tray not a litter box) but still no poops :( I spoke to the vet who said its ok that she's still not pooping. She doesn't seem to have trouble moving about & has been stretched out for most of the day.

She's been a bit more alert today, she sat up this morning (that must hurt?) & has been looking around a lot . She ate off a plate by herself too.

She's still not bothered by fussing & still doesn't purr. I don't know why I'm surprised - she never sits on anyone but me & only if I have my dressing gown on or a blanket on my knees that she likes to suck (eeewww - she still does this at 5yrs old) and that's the only time she purrs! The only other time she will sit on anyone else is if they are ill....strange girl. :strange:

Thanks for all your stories, they're keeping me going & cheering me up no end.

I am sure she will be fine. Our boy was just like that and the vet said, "Well, he's been smacked by a car. It will take time." A vet told me years ago that cats have a much higher pain threshold than us. Don't worry ... you'll seen an improvement every day. Just keep fussing her ... it's incredible how they respond to love and attention and you talking to them. Your cats are all beautiful ... they look so cute and cheeky!

Yay Sophie. Keep going girl.

The cat we had when I was born used to sit with people when they were ill, he was always called Nurse Ginger.

Just caught up with this thread, sorry to hear all this @littleme but if I'm ever poorly bad I'm coming round yours for some tlc and a diet of champions :). What are dreamies? I never heard of them?

Just wondering about the microchip? Do your cats have them as it's weird the vet never scanned her straight away and then contact you?

Hmmmm, I think you might be better off taking your chance with dd looking after you at home, rather than me locking you in a large dog crate & feeding you fishy cat food!

Dreamies are just like Whiskers Temptations - Treat size little tiny salmon flavored biscuits with a cheese filling (other flavours available).

Sophie didn't eat much yesterday, just 1 tiny tin of tuna/pawn Sheba & some Dreamies ....

....but this morning I got up & she had done a poo! Hooray ! Roll on Monday & our vets visit to see how she's doing. :)

It all sounds very normal - just like our boy was. She is doing well, so don't worry.
Did he have trouble pooping @sasaparilla? This is the only poop she's done in 9 days - although she didn't eat at all for the 4 days she was in the vets & is now only eating very small amounts...Husbands Fed up of me keep going on about it!

@kyoto49 I forgot to answer....none of the cats are chipped, its our own stupid fault that she was in the vets for 4 days without us knowing. Strangely she was taken to the vets that we use, & they didn't recognise her either even after treating her broken leg in early summer!

He was hit during the night on the Monday and didn't go until the Friday but he was in shock and had hardly eaten anything, only tiny bits of food and fromage frais. We gave him cat milk and he did drink some of that. I rang the vet one evening because we were so worried and he told us not to worry, that it was normal. He probably thought we were being over the top but I don't mind that, I just wanted him to put our minds at rest, and he did. He was totally subdued for days, wouldn't purr and just growled if we touched him. It's lovely to see him now and having to dodge the claws around our ankles again when we walk down the stairs, it's hard to believe he was ever like that! Honestly, Littleme, you don't need to worry - she is following the same pattern as our baby friend and I'll tell you something else - the power of love and prayer works wonders. It did for us - the vet was not expecting such a result. He said that, at the very least, he expected to have to put a plate in his back leg, so that it would be fixed because he had had so little to work with - he really couldn't get over it. He is only a young cat, mind, 3 and 1/2, and so that obviously helped with the healing but, even so, his poor little leg was in such a state.

So, stop worrying!

Glad she seems to be on the mend @littleme :) And well done little Sophie cat for doing that poo .

(I know when I had my hysterectomy they said I couldn't go home until I'd 'been'...seemed an almost impossible task with being in so much pain , and I think my system must have closed down for a few weeks. Maybe she has been scared to 'go' incase it hurt her)
