Both open today. Was it last day of trading for both?
If so it's looking very bleak for the market and the top end of town.

Stafford, full of pubs? We have relatively few in the town centre, if you compare to similar sized town centres such as Cannock or Wellington in Telford, they have way more pubs.

Such a shame I was only in there yesterday buying my fruit and veg for the week.

Stafford town centre is so difficult to get in and out of and the parking charges are quite high.

Mother-In-Law who work(ed) there got told she wasn't even going to get paid along with 2 others, despite paying 2 other members of staff infront of her. I think she informed them that she would pay herself what she was owed from the till - and I don't blame her. They gave the staff no warning whatsoever. She found out towards the end of her last shift.

That's true i no someone who worked there and they said the same in fact the one employee who had been there for 24 years never got there pay or the holiday pay they were expecting because they are due to go on holiday, but i bet the owners of Lowndes still have there luxury life styles.

They live on Castlefields. Depends on what your idea of a luxury lifestyle is. Maybe they will have to sell up, if that cheers you up.

It is always sad to see a local small business go under, It would of been proper for them to of done the decent thing and informed the staff what was happening giving them some notice maybe even paying them there wages or informing them they could not pay there wages beforehand instead of letting the staff come to work then informing them at the end of the day and not paying some of them that is disgusting.

The owners only think about themselves.

I lost my job four years ago, was left to claim everything from the government which took between 7-12 weeks even though my employer had enough money in a bank account to pay everyone working for him all the money due to them. There was nothing wrong with the business, my employer just decided he had had enough of working and closed it down.

Can't argue with that.

I worked for lowndes fruits for a number of years we were informed of closing on Saturday afternoon we knew things were bad in the company and to be honest I saw it coming. I can guarantee you that the shop in Stafford and rugely will be reopening but won't be owned by mr k lowndes . It is very unfortunate what has happened but this kinda thing will continue to happen with big stores killing off local businesses
