cor, I was about to pop on here and ask whether I should choose Karma or Malabar for a night out with the ladies, (not being very up on Indian food personally) I hadn't really looked at this thread before, what a shame that people have been disappointed by poor marketing on a place that many held in high regard prior to this incedent!!
We always use Ashiana or Abduls - I know some people on here dont like Abduls but we love it and have never had a bad meal there. Never been to Karma but loads of people on here rate it, and wouldnt recommend Malabar to anyone - after this! xx
Cheers! It's so hard to pick one though isn't it? I want to take my mom out somewhere nice as she's a bit lonely now my sis has left home for uni :)
I think we should have a girls night out to cheer up your mum :) xx

With response to this, Firstly we apologise, the press release which was written by a collegeue was sent out to the newspapers who decided on whether they were going to put this in.
I'm not sure if I got the same press release just running a little Stafford website but the one I got had no mention of the forum in whatsoever, I didn't even know it was linked to the forum until I stumbled upon this topic today, I'd have definitely kept it in there (added it even) if I had known!

Have only had take away from ashiana before - several times - keep going back. Absolutely love it.

TBH those who want a nice meal, in good surroundings, at a keen price with great service I would definitely try malabar, but perhaps not on one of these promo nights. I still stand by my comments - I've never had a bad experience there yet.

Abduls - well, what is there to say? You won't be disappointed.

Yet to try Karma II though.

Back in t'day Ash at the castle tavern was excellent in terms of his communication between business and customer base - particularly active on here. As is mr pie and ale - another great example of how interacting with your customers in this way can be very beneficial to your business and for the customers.

I think it's great malabar has signed up, now they've find their feet (albeit though a markrep) on the forum it would make sense to be a more conscientious participant, in my opinion.

Whilst I've always enjoyed Malabar I have to say I'd be very ****** off if I arrived tonight expecting all you can eat and trying the new menu, only to find you get to try a single dish. Very bad marketing decision made there, lying to potential customers is a sure way to annoy them. As stated earlier I shall not bother attending tonight as what they are offering is not what I booked, I am just glad I heard about it here in advance.

Whilst I'm not saying I wont use Malabar again, they have certainly dropped in my list of places to eat. My next curry will certainly be at Karma.

If you go out to ear there give me a shot mate - I'm yet to try it, would be nice to see what it's all about.

A second dish (or even more) may have been available under the 'all you can eat' umbrella, I didn't ask for one, but I do doubt it.

Considering you were meant to be able to eat any starter, also all you can eat, I suspect not. Its not like we got the wrong end of the stick here, the thread title clearly said all you can eat and it was backed up in the posts:

On Monday 11th and Tuesday 12th October we are offering a special "all you can eat" deal on starters, mains and sundries, with half of the £12.95 ticket price being donated to Katherine House Hospice.

Just to confirm here, next Monday and Tuesday will be all you can eat for £12.95?

Its 12.95 all you can eat, starters, mains and sundries. You can order what ever tickles your fancy of the menu.
Which has just soured the whole idea of going tonight TBH. I do fancy a curry though! Do I go to Karma, or order a Spice Delight? Decisions...

I'm looking forward to it tonight. Not been put off, will make my own mind up. Who am I to turn down a freebie.

Well, you have absolutely nothing to lose, I would imagine service to be better tonight with no auction to get in the way and I don't think anyone has complained about the actual quality of the food except my thinking that there could have been more meat in my main course.

I'm with you Tek. I was gonna go and now won't. Big difference between all you can eat and a set menu of a starter and main meal, big, big, big difference, no matter the cause!

The thing is, if they'd said from the start what the deal was and that half the £ goes to charity I'd probably still have gone. I just don't like being lied to, it irritates me!

Mrs M, don't blame you at all. I'd have gone too if it was free, be stupid not to!

That was my feeling last night when I realised what the deal really was.

I have just got in from a fabulous evening in Malabar.

When we arrived we (my husband, 13 year old son and I) arrived at Malabar we got a very friendly greeting. We were shown to our table and it was explained to us what the evening was about and that we could choose anything from the menu's. More people started to arrive and after about 10 minutes our starters arrived. Our orders were Chingree Bhaji, Nargis Koftah and Chicken Tikka, all were delicious and the chicken tikka was so tender, not too dry as it sometimes tends to be at other indian restaurants. For the Mains our orders were Chicken Jalfrezi, Chicken Biriani and Nawabi Churma Passanda. All very nice although the Jalfrezi was hotter than I usually eat but was still tasty even having eaten the hottest chilli I have ever eaten in my life( and I've eaten some very hot chillies). At this point the manager, Abu, was passing and sent one of his waiters to get me some Raita for me and immediately this took the hotness away and was much nicer than I imagined (not had it before). The Manager stopped for a chat. (He seemed to do this with all of the customers). He was telling us how they had raised money for Katherine house and that this happens every year. They do do a loyalty card of £10, £5 of which gets shared with 3 charities, Katherine house, air ambulance and Cancer research. Whenever you visit you get 10% off your meal and after a year you are invited back for a party and free 3 course meal. There was entertainment, a belly dancer. Fun to watch and customers were invited to join in. My husband ordered more food, chicken korma, which was lovely and came promptly. We could have eaten anything we wanted. Our dining experience was most enjoyable, there prices are very reasonable and I would recommend Malabar to anybody.

group of us went to Malabar on Monday and could not fault it. food was fantastic and plentiful. waiters came to us often to ask if we wanted more food, we left fit to burst. staff all very friendly and the atmosphere was great. well done Malabar for helping to raise money for such a worthy cause, great job done and for 3 nights.
