Market Square paving.

Dug a few trenches this week. Seems to be only one guy 'working' whenever I go past.

Now closed off the part from Lloyds Bank towards Boots, meaning you have to walk around the perimeter. Still nothing happening, nobody there.

They seem to have dug out the trenches outside boots and tidied it up. Also layed a few more of the curbing stones. I suppose once all the curbing is in place the rest is just filler and so should be quicker.

On Monday heard someone reply to a child's question of what they are doing -

Well instead of being busy fixing the roads they are busy fixing something that didn't need fixing in the first place.

Other than questioning the use of the word 'busy' I couldn't have agreed more.

The Market Square paving was in a poor state so it did need fixing. It's how long it seems to be taking which is seems to be the issue.

Work has started to fill in the paving this week, I think now the electrics etc that were being redone pace has started to pick up.

that said, the colours have surprised me a little. They're an interesting palette, a lot brighter than the concept images suggested.

Which is all very nice but when it's wet or icy it's going to be a feckin deathtrap just like the previous mess was

A lot more workers there this week. Laid a lot of paving down but not as much as the photo appears to show, but at least there is visible progress now.

Enjoying a drop of red.
The seeming increase in work rate, together with the numbers of plod driving around the town centre yesterday afternoon would indicate that Lorraine Conkey has truly managed to put the wind up someone.

Quite right too.

Maybe they thought our esteemed member was due a visit after her appearance in the commons & (more importantly) on BBC Midlands. 🙄

Two million quid later, and we get my nans old patio circa 1979.
Your nan has great taste! I haven't seen any 70's patios like that.
It does look quite nice but in icy weather the word deathtrap comes to mind
I agree, it looks good, it will certainly brighten the area up when it is completed in 2033. But I suppose the current situation with cracked paving and chewing gum & bird muck all over it provides some much-needed grip in the winter.
