That's great news ! I've been keeping my eye on her 'missing' posts on a couple of facebook sites all day in the hope of seeing she has been found

Glad it found its way home but on the FB page they said pink collar no ID. I believe that all dogs in public should have an identification tag.

I also wondered this. Further, given the type of dog it is one would have thought a responsible owner would have the dog microchipped. If that dog ends up in stray kennels miles away it's going to be on the put down list pretty quickly owing to the breed and the difficulty in re-homing stray ones. All for the sake of a £20 microchip which would prevent this and get the dog back to it's family.

I believe that all dogs are required to be chipped now - though, chipping wouldn't have had much effect in this particular case.

I wonder if the dog simply managed to abscond from a garden? Although, the permanent wearing over a tag would have helped, if anybody did actually apprehend the escapee, which seems unlikely, given the method of return.

I'm fairly sure that the garage door blew open in the bad wind ....accidents happen.

Absolutely. I don't think there's a dog owner alive whose dog hasn't got out at least once or run off etc, which is why a microship is such no-brainer! It's in the dog no matter where they end up.

My enquiries suggest that the dog in question is chipped - a recently acquired rescue dog.
I.e., a dog that was rescued, rather than a dog that goes rescuing, though that may be a future career move, now that she's rescued herself this time.

My dog hitched a lift from the A41. She'd been gone an hour. I'd wandered the lanes where we used to live, getting increasingly tearful. Suddenly a strange car pulled up, with a familiar spaniel face in the window. Two wonderful women had seen her looking lost, pulled over and opened the car door - she jumped straight in.

My dog is chipped and wears a tag but these people very sensibly drove to the nearest house and asked: "Do you know this dog?". They were given directions and a dog biscuit.

I feel very guilty that I didn't thank them properly. I was just in bits. If it was you, thank you.

A Jack Russell turned up at my house once, he had ID saw we walked the three-quarters of a mile to his house - they didn't even know he'd been out.

Eighteen months later, he turned up here again....
