If you are interested:
The next meeting of the Friends of Victoria Park will be Monday April 7th at 6pm in the hut next to the bowling green. The main gates will be shut but you will be able to access it by the side gate on Tenterbanks which will be open.

We are a very friendly, welcoming group who get together once a month for a short meeting. We organise a few events in the park each year and help with planting occasionally -for example recently we planted spring bulbs and a wildlife hedge.

All welcome!

Hopefully a bit of tidy up will be discussed with SBC, graffitti on the bridge, continued vandalism of the grade2 listed mottram stand and the constant stream of beer cans, spirit bottles in that area that greet every train passenger every morning who cut through the park, the warden opens the gates why can they not clean up, never a great first impression for the town having someone who lives out the area picking up litter.
The park is a haven for the town and seems a little neglected in parts, cannot see a green flag this year if inspectors see that. shame really.
Not sure its my memory but why was the railings taken down that side so every lout can gain all the access they need that side of the park at night, poor decision.

Could not agree more Gareth, Victoria Park is a Stafford gem, unfortunately there are some inconsiderate, selfish individuals who are treating the park as if it was a giant rubbish bin. I would be happy to help in keeping this park clean and would like to see some proactive steps to stop the drunken louts getting into the park at night. Why cant individuals who drop litter and vandalise areas be made to do community service and clean up their mess. I am sure this would prevent them from doing it in future.

Whenever I visit Victoria Park I do a litter pick. I find it impossible to understand why people can't put litter in a bin, is it really so hard(?). There are plenty of bins in Victoria Park as such this is not an excuse.

I would take great pleasure in watching the inconsiderate litter louts made to do community service and clean up their mess.

Thanks for your comments and thoughts. I will take them to the next meeting ,which is on Monday 28th April at 6pm in the bowling pavilion (all welcome) and see if we can forward them to the appropriate people in SBC.

In the meantime , it is the time of year for our annual free Easter Egg Hunt for children and families. From 10.00 on Sunday , again based in the bowling pavilion. Posters are up around the park. It would be great to have sunny weather but seems to rarely happen........
