More steam anyone? Trains through Stafford.

Saw it go through Creswell. It seemed to be in very light steam (I suspect the diesel loco at the back was doing a lot of the work), possibly because of the risk of lineside fires. I went up to Carlisle last month and my train got halted because of a big lineside fire; funnily enough a steam loco had gone through less than half an hour before my train.
It had plenty of steam on the Worth Valley Railway last month but all the rain 'up North' might reduce the risk of lineside fires.

Enjoying a drop of red.

There was practically no steam at all when in came through Stafford about an hour ago and it wasn't hanging about either.

There was an announcement for passengers who were hoping to get to Scotland that basically said forget it, due to lineside fires.

Not a steam enquiry but upon getting off a train from Brum at the station at 3.10pm there was a Greater Anglia train on platform 3 with "Wembley Central" as the destination.....
I have been just looking at options to get to that very station...

Haha. Might drive to Watford and overground it in if Dad doesn't come.
We're heading to Uxbridge then getting the Underground to Wembley Park.

It's a shorter walk but a pain if you get caught up in the Stop/Go queuing system coming back down Wembley Way.

If your Dad does come you could always park at a Chiltern Railways station and get a train straight to the stadium.

In 2007 when my old work sponsored Wembley we had corp box tickets for an England game but with it being an evening the only reasonable way to get there was drive to Banbury, park up and then train direct to Wembley itself....

We parked in the disabled car park for the final and that was great, straight out onto the concourse and we didn't get stuck getting out either, so as soon as they release the date I'll try and book that.
