Moths.

The little blighters are nibbling teeny-tiny holes in mine & my daughters clothes. They don't touch the husbands clothes, which I find strange as they are in the same wardrobe as mine! :strange:

I bought some Cedar hanging things to go in the wardrobe about a year ago, but they don't work at all. Does anyone have any tried & tested methods for getting rid of them - anything you would recommend? I've looked for mothballs but haven't found any anywhere....

If only the caterpillars were bigger.

I have one of those UV zappers that seems to sort them out before they make next year's - far fewer this year than I got last year.

I have teeny tiny holes in some of my tops and jumpers but they are all in the same place...at the bottom in the middle.

I thought that it was perhaps a certain pair of jeans/trousers that they were catching on but you got me thinking...could it be moths?

Weird - same place, although I noticed 2 tiny holes on the shoulder of one top ...I'm hoping it is moths, I've never seen any though....oooo I feel creepy now!

Holes in the shoulder....handbag catch?
No, I don't think so - it was a summer Jersey cardy type thing, I had pushed it right to the back of the wardrobe last winter after checking for holes....they defiantly weren't there at the end of summer as I binned all the things with holes in.

Daughters clothes holes are in the front at the middle....she's growing so quickly that there's not time for her to wear holes in!

I did catch a very small gold moth on one of her tops the other day, but I had left it hanging on her door & figured the moth might of flown in overnight....

Clothes moth. Not this big - around the size of a shirt button when in flight.

Eggs will often be laid in accessible areas on hanging clothes - e.g., shoulder tops, outer edges, etc., if hanging tightly bunched.

That's exactly the little devil! So where are the eggs/caterpillars/grubs? I haven't seen any anywhere!?

Tomorrow I'm going to drag everything out of the stupid slidey built in wardrobe & fumigate it (with what I dont know)...

I can't even find Mothballs online....people seem to be using them for getting rid of skunks & moles - but you can't buy them anywhere.....one site says they were banned in 2008 :(

All you usually find is the remains of the cocoon - it looks like a squashed grain of rice.

They don't make much effort - just hatch, eat a hole, pupate and bugger off. Get 'em before they lay and things will calm down.

The good news is you have nice clothes or they wouldn't even bother! If you take everything out of the wardrobe and then re-hang it that will annoy them. I always found that lavender deters them and some old getting rid of spider folk remedies always worked, stuff like peppermint oil and not having plants in the bedroom.

So moths! We've got carpet moths devouring my beautiful woollen carpets 😬

I assume they've been munching away all winter and I've only now noticed the adults of which there have been a few.

I've literally had everything out and hoovered all corners, skirting, under the bed but has anyone got anything more proven to kill the little sh*ts or advice apart from synthetic carpets soon?

We've got rechargeable zappers, the size and shape of tennis rackets with the centre of the three layers of mesh finer and the opposite charge.
They are very effective for getting individual moths with the bang, flash and charred smell quite impressive.
