I remember reading a story about the shower scene - no idea if it's true but never let the truth etc...
Hitchcock received a letter from a woman who said her daughter had been so traumatised by that scene that she hadn't been able to take a shower since and asked what she could do about it. He replied 'send her to the dry cleaners'.
