Enjoying a few pints of Timmy Taylor's, Mosaic and Welsh Pride in the Cottage Loaf in Llandudno.

Best beers so far by a mile.

I think he got a bit pissed off with everyone having a go at him, derailing every thread going, with talk about pubs old and new.
@Glam has he been admitted to your place of work then?
Possibly found a serious lock-in?
I'm not allowed to divulge confidential information.
But I will say, probably not.
Coton House, the Alcohol and Drug Unit closed down many many moons ago. I'm not too sure where people get sent to nowadays.

Gramaisc,
I nearly responded to your "There should be a plaque somewhere in Forres" comment in the "Holidays 2022" thread with what I believe would have been an entirely relevant remark about me visiting that town while on a camping holiday in Scotland during 1977 but then realised that mention of a pub might get someone whingeing and so am on this thread instead.
The holiday was with friends I had been at school with and we got to the Red Lion in Forres, twice I think, as it was the only pub in the northern half of Scotland, north of Forfar, known to sell a real ale, McEwans 70/-, at a time when Scotland was seen as something of a beer desert.
I've had about fourteen nights in Scotland since then, mostly staying in Glasgow or Dundee, but not camping.

We were at Kinloss at the time.

One might hope that -

You do really need the four Griffons with contra-props for the proper audio effect.

I did have a bizarre conversation with some bloke about the use of the French roundel here -

He seemed to have convinced himself that there was copyright on the RAF roundel, but not the French one*.

Whilst the French ones may all have been naval and had the anchor applied as well, it seemed a weird argument.

* My suspicion was that he actually had no idea that is was a French roundel...

Well played, Sir. This is the forum to discuss beer and not holidays.

Scotland is still pretty devoid of real ales although there are a few exceptions if you search hard enough.

When we stayed at Kenmore last year I did go prepared by taking a few trays of Izaac Walton bottled beers with me.

We did find a real ale brewery and a good real ale pub in Dunfermline a few years ago when we went for the Superbikes at Knockhill.

Currently in the Bull and the handpull is Wadworth's Horizon which just happens to go down rather well with Wissage Bakehouse Apple and Cider Brandy pork pies.

It's also a very nice pint without the pie by the way 😁

So why not support our local ones then?
I'm not suggesting not supporting them and I've had more than a few pints of Lymestone beer over the past fourteen years, in their Lymestone Vaults, Borehole and elsewhere.
I don't though believe that 2000 breweries is sustainable long term, and there might not have been half this number if Progressive Beer Duty wasn't saving them 25p a pint or £18 a firkin.

Found a really good real ale/craft beer bar in Tonbridge over the weekend called the Beer Seller.

Lots of local beers and ciders at reasonable "southern" prices.

Would recommend if anyone is in the area.
