Membership of a Trade Union should carry a 10 year prison sentence (hard labour) followed by deportation to North Korea.
I used to misunderstand unions, then I needed one. An employer decided I was paid too much and wanted to take 10k off my wages to give to someone else, effectively swapping our wages. My choice was accept or resign, with the unions help I instead got her wages raised by 5k and mine the same.

What, in your eyes, should I have done instead?

EDIT: Mine stayed the same, to be clear, not mine raised the same

I've had cause to use the union at work twice, without it, I would have been hung, drawn and quartered for no reason long ago.

Unions have helped me enormously.
In the years before then I was able to have union roles.

Man that was INTENSE. Didn't go particularly early but still managed to get on the barrier thanks to o2 Priority. Such a great gig and I'm not even hurting that much this morning.... well, my wallet might be from the merch store.

Going to see about risking a train to London later, see what the situation is with that. Train from Manchester wasn't that busy and the stations were mostly empty. I can already see a major delay and two cancellations on that route though so shall have to keep all my fingers and toes crossed.

Had to go into the Stratton Medical centre this morning for a blood test prior to chemo on Thursday. The problem is my veins have learned to hide when needles appear. Starting on the left arm the lady got one phial out and then the hole went dry. She needs two phials for these tests so she moved the rig to the right arm, and just about managed to get enough for the test.

NOW I'VE GOT TWO EMPTY ARMS ..... 😱

Windowless Carriages - Branson was nearly there with his Pendolinos.
( Commenting on the next one would be 'off topic' )

I don't know why they don't go for the ear lobes. Whenever I've so much as nicked mine, seemingly gallons of blood have poured out.

I still have a scar on the hand where I had a blood test when I was in my teens. They couldn't find any other veins.

I've got one slightly fuller arm, due to carrying the cordless phone on me in the front garden, waiting for the tip-off of a wood delivery - this requires me to have about 30 minutes warning, to create access, etc.

Without looking at the caller id, I just answered it and got "Hello, it's Howard, I've got a spare dose, if you want it?"

Fleetingly worried that I might be unwittingly involved with some worldwide drug cartel, I realised it was the local chemist - so I am now boosted.
