Just booked into my hotel in York, had a beer need to find an eatery now.
I was booked at the Lighthorseman in York for two nights during April last year but the first lockdown meant I had to cancel my arrangements and I got a prompt refund.

We're at The Hilton, ended up at Lucias on Swinegate. Via a couple of hydration stops at The Corner Pin and The Whippet Inn. Would've been tempted to eat at The Whippet but they were fully booked for dining.

You've reminded me that two years ago I used Huddersfield's Corner, now permanently closed, and Lichfield's Whippet Inn.

Took a walk down from the village today. I just turn right outside the drive and within a few yards I'm on a country lane. Down into the valley then turn left and back up a steep slope that brings me back into the centre of the village. Only a couple of miles, but a good excuse to pop in for a pint and sit outside in the October sunshine. Classic blue sky with cotton wool clouds and even though the Sun is low in the sky these days, there's still a bit of thump in it. ;)

A New Inn.
You probably remember the New Inn on Broad Eye when it was kept by Arthur Candlin Junior before it became Props Wine Bar.

Do you mean the New Inn that then moved to @BobClay's village in Cornwall?
Did they mount it on the rowing boats and float it down there? They seemed to disappear around the same time.

OI!! Keep pub talk in the pub bit - please!

Question: what’s the M6 like at like 10pm or so? Is it actually lit? Haven’t really done a whole lot of nighttime motorway driving as I just haven’t needed to so far

Trying to decide between driving down to the Hippodrome and getting a train on Saturday…

Last time - three years ago? - that I went down that way, it was lit from Hilton Park southwards.

If you're not in a mad rush, then trundling along in the 'slow' lane with the saner people shouldn't be too traumatic.

I think there are overnight closures coming up at junction 10. I didn't take in when though, I just ensured it wouldn't affect my day in the office.

I think that may have finished now, if this was what you were referring to?
