Ah, maybe I saw a sign on the way down from Manchester on Wednesday night. The journey from there to home then home to work yesterday almost blurred into one.

Question: what’s the M6 like at like 10pm or so? Is it actually lit? Haven’t really done a whole lot of nighttime motorway driving as I just haven’t needed to so far

Trying to decide between driving down to the Hippodrome and getting a train on Saturday…
Coming up the M5 and M6 from Worcester in the dark , there are some parts lit (mainly around the junctions) but a lot of it completely unlit. When I've come northbound from sons after 9pm -10pm there is still quite a lot of traffic around and has quite often been queuing traffic on the M6 southbound on various stretches between Stafford and Walsall area. Not been able to see what's caused the rolling roadblocks each time , as not took notice of what was going on the other side until I've seen it all suddenly come to a stop with nothing in front.
(Been stuck a few times approaching J13 northbound late at night as well, after a fantastic journey managing to beat the coning off all the way, to be stuck sitting still for half an hour 2 miles from the exit , when all lanes ahead have been merging into one and there is still such a big volume of traffic. )

Things might finally be looking up, work-wise after a very tough year and a half. I signed with a new Illustration agent this week, immediately got a job with good pay via them and also got another good comics job today that's well-paid - a rarity in comics! I don't think I mentioned here but I also had artwork on the cover of the Judge Dredd Megazine last month which only just went off the shelves for the new issue.

What happened last year is that I was really buried in a tough deadline doing my first work for a US Publisher as the pandemic began and then when I finished that, I just stopped drawing for two-three months as I focused on keeping my parents safe, doing their shopping for them and odd jobs etc. Then when I started working again, the transition from being busy to doing nothing to being busy again meant I got a hand injury known as "trigger finger" where the joint swells up and stiffens and I basically couldn't work for the rest of the year. I had a relatively big job I had to pull out of because every time I tried to start working, it would flare up again. Then this year there's just been barely any work around and no conventions or anything. I had given myself until the end of the tax year to get things going again before I'd have to bite the bullet and get a day job but looks like I might be able to keep going, fingers (very carefully!!) crossed.

250,000th poster!
Today I was talking about pubs/clubs I frequented in the 90's & 2000's, including 'Props wine bar', and I realised I couldn't actually remember where it was.... Anyone enlighten me? Where Essence of the Orient is now?

Just think .... somewhere out there ... in some secret hidden base ... there's a cloning machine for beings with names beginning with 'M.' (No names will be mentioned in order to protect the innocent.) :strange:

Well this is the most disturbing video I have ever watched.

Are you aware of the YouTube channel where some bloke uploads videos of himself opening/touching/licking sleeping women's eyes?!

(note: this isn't it. this is a short documentary about it)

Not sure why it's not embedding but it's probably for the best. This creeped me out before bed way more than any horror movie I've ever seen, I'm sure.

It must have gone really cold. Youngest bunged the heating on other morning at 04.30am. Said it was freezing when he came home from work.

Good, that means the Malt & Hops is where the Island curry place is....
I always call that the 'malt & hops' or ' Dirty Duck' island' still.

I remember catching the bus from MRI on Friday lunchtimes, racing across from where it dropped us off on The Green over the road from the Dirty Duck, jumping the railings and annoying our boss by playing ' Wet Dream' on the jukebox ..

When I passed my driving test in 1973 , the road island wansn' t there . The main road was a straight through road past the Dirty Duck

It's still Attwood's Roundabout to me.

Yes, the 'road island' wasn't built until 1976. the White Lion and the Unicorn closing the first week of that year ready for demolition.

After a week or so of shuffling computers about I've finally got my most recently built PC out of the conservatory and into the living room because it is the only one now that will take Insider Ring test builds of Windows 11 from Microsoft. Took that long because I've had to tidy it up, install a lot of software that I use (it only had Microsft's new Flight Simulator onboard when I started) and transfer sound systems and externally connected radios which meant much shuffling. The old machine (still perfectly good) has taken it's place in the conservatory.

So I ran up Flight Simulator today and updated (takes huge updates.) I've chosen my personal aircraft to be put into 'My Hangar.' FS definitely looks good with high definition monitors. As you can see below (and that was a much downsized screen shot) my aircraft is ready to fly.
Why did I choose this one ? ... well ... it's shiny. :P😜

Yet again super envious of people who can just go to bed , close their eyes and go to sleep !

Went to bed (booze-less ) early as got to be up for an early drive . Gave up after over 3 hours of not one bit of sleep, and now after my cup of warm milk to try to make me sleepy, just dreading the next 4 hours lying there trying to get at least a few minutes kip . :(

As much as you may not want to, take sleeping tablets. Worked wonders for me after I had surgery and couldn't get to sleep.
