Trying to fix the shed, it now appears it was built using a mix of imperial and metric panels. Mine are imperial and halfway through I just realised I no longer line up with the frame.

Who the hell mixes sizes mid build!

Parked at sons , which is nearer to the hospital , and had a walk to suss out where I needed to go in the maze of hospital grounds for my upcoming appointment. If I'd have gone the straight forward road way it should have been 0.8 miles.......I took a 2.34 mile 'short cut' through the muddy woods and came out no-where near where I was expecting  Had to ask a man walking his alsation how to get back on track.

The road way it is then !

I went to a Tractor Run a few miles away. I was going to bike it there, as parking can be an issue when the place gets an influx from the outside world, but, by the time the weather looked plausible, I was likely to be late, so I drove and I did find a spot.

Being a significant event, it did attract some law enforcement on a 'community engagement' mission, although this seemed to consist largely of taking the piss out of people and issuing directions like "You can't go down there now! feck off!" - plus trying to discover who I am without actually asking me.

The smaller machines started the event...

... one of which had to be stopped by a discrete placement of the sergeant's toe-cap - but, no charges were brought.

The larger machines followed - some real monsters, but not all the drivers escalated to the same degree.

Even more fun, either the floor or walls are all on a very consistent slope. To match the centre of the uprights each panel needs to lean by around a cm so nothing matches up!

Driven 18 miles in sh1te traffic for nothing!

Got email with Co-op dividends earned , and money-off coupons. Drove miles to nearest store the other side of Worcester .....showed an employee my card on entry , asked if it was same Co-op and could I use that card "Yes"

Filled basket with stuff I wouldn't have normally bought, to use dividend & coupons up as no Co-ops nearer so not planning to go again ....... "Can't use that here, we're a different group". So shopping went back on the shelves !

Rang Central England head office to find out where exactly I could use it around here........ "Afraid there aren't any south of Cannock/ Solihull anymore. We sold them all off. We retained the Funeral services branches, but all the food stores were aquired by mid-counties".

Account will go inactive after a while if not used , so got to ring them to re-activate if we ever plan a trip up north again to spend the dividend!

If only you'd wanted a funeral !

We knew where we were with the Stafford and Stone Co-operative Society fifty years ago.

Tamworth still has its own one.
Founded in 1886, the Tamworth Co-operative Society is one of the town’s best-loved and most iconic businesses. Today’s Society covers Staffordshire, Derbyshire, North Warwickshire and the West Midlands with a supermarket, 11 convenience stores and eight funeral service locations. We also operate four post offices. Annual turnover exceeds £25m.
I don't think it quite "covers" those four counties, more has a presence in them.

I still remember my mums divi number from the Stafford & Stone Co-operative Society.

If I do ever go back to Stafford and use my dividend , I will be hoping the Co-op Bank in the high street is still there , and the same Co-op bank as my pass book to cash in with the grand sum of £1.00 in it that I paid for my Co-op membership . Wonder how much interest I've amassed 😂
(Knowing my luck , even if it is the same bank group , they'll probably find some clause to charge me some stupid sum to cash the £1.00 in ...)

Just interviewed someone that told us we were wrong about everything we're doing and need to scrap everything and let him rewrite the code from scratch as it'll be much better. Told the head developer he doesn't know what he's talking about, and his 25 years experience are nothing compared to the knowledge they could bring. Also failed to answer any question.

EDIT: They said they wouldn't put their camera on during a first meeting for security, yet we had their CV. The way some questions were skirted around was like they had a team of monkeys googling what we said and they just jumped between screens picking random words to repeat. It was painful to stay professional. TBH the whole recruitment process is painful, but thats what happens when you work for a company that pays low.

Enjoying a drop of red.
I once interviewed someone who wanted to do a panel beating apprenticeship with us. Even though this person had never beaten a panel in their life, they spent their entire time telling our two panel guys, who between them have 70 years experience, that they would be able to do so much better than them and who expected to be doing hands on work on a DB4 we had in for renovation at the time, within his first week and would be able to improve upon the original design!

By contrast our current apprentice is a great girl shaping up to be worth her weight in gold and I'll be having to dig deep to keep her once she has got her qualifications.

It is the modern way*.

Just be 'positive' and ignore all failures. Keep going until you are selected by someone else who got there the same way.

You can see little else in our governing classes**.

* Having said 'modern', it's been around for a long time, but really ramped up in the last 10-15 years.

**Braverman, Patel, Kwarteng, Truss, Johnson, Shapps, etc, etc...

"If I was given them for no cost, what would I let them have a go at?" That's a good test to apply.
