Mundane facts about your day: Part Deux.

Not the case in Stafford, in happy to say.
Still treacherous black ice here in this part of Worcester with bits of snow lying around as well. Went to top up my bird & squirrel feeders ( minus another one that naughty squirrels have scarpered off with) and the car windscreen was frozen solid like an extra layer of glass.
Missing parking the car in the garage as we have done for past 40 years. Only got half a garage in this house ,which is now our big walk in booze fridge :D, as the back part was converted to another room.
The uncleared roads and paths are treacherous! You may think they look better but in reality they are actually more icy than yesterday. Remember A&E is full at the minute and filling up even faster with folk who have fallen in the slippery conditions. Try not to add to it and take extra care. Also if you come a proper cropper and need an ambulance you could be faced with a freezing cold wait on the floor for several hours to add to your woes.

I'm getting a lift a lot of the way today to my appointment, after yesterday's trying my best not to end up in A&E. Just hoping the hospital grounds paths have been gritted, as the building I've got to go to is the furthest away around the maze of roads & buildings.

No snow where I am, but the temperature hasn't been above zero for several days, so the frost is building up on things.

The journey to Lidl this morning was through a Winter Wonderland / White Hell, depending upon your perspective.

Well, I was worried about the icy pavements.... should have been more worried about the cars skidding up over the pavement! This happened just before I reached that part to cross the island, that's the path that I would have been on .... car skidded on the ice exiting the island , up over the pavement and the post of the road sign stopped it going further over the pavement.
My photo was as I walked back after appointment, fire engine in attendance by then ....

Not feeling so bad about walking past now (another car had stopped to check on them when it happened) . Fire engine wasn't to cut them out , apparently something to do with making the car safe and National Grid work due to them demolishing the roadsign as it halted their off-road slide.

The NHS must really be in a state, they’re using parcel tape now!
Once had electrician's insulating tape used on me - by a consultant swearing about the fact that there had been a balls up about appointments & blood test across the hospital, all the nurses from the clinics had gone home and he couldn't find any adhesive tape, just a helpful electrician

Think that must have been what they used on me for my hysterectomy . Banged some thick black tape on over my stitches & I had allergic reaction to it. 😂

Got home about 21:15. Three stitches and plenty bandages. Got to go back this morning. Looked worse than it was.
Glad they got you sorted eventually.

-5C this morning here at the moment. Sticking my big ancient snow boots on today to walk to the post office. Might look ugly , but at least with wider soles I might stay upright easier .........

wanna see my snake?
Just realised the pond pump isn't on, the koi are fine as thats a big deep pond but the sturgeon are in a much smaller and more importantly above ground structure (that @Gramaisc helped me acquire many years ago!). All pipework and the filters themselves are now inoperable due to ice, need to work out how to see if the sturgeon are still alive down there and then how I can rescue them.

Convinced I had heard footsteps on the wooden floor downstairs 4.30am, and hearing the alarm sensors clicking away like mad , ventured on a search of the house scared shitless. Thankfully no-one in sight as snoring hubby would never have heard my screams!
Hopefully just the gutters or something creaking with cold outside or something ....

Phone saying down to -9c and looking rather cooooold out there 5.30am and forecast to get even colder :o

Take care out & about folks.

Safe journey @proactive

Edit....getting colder as the morning goes on.....temp here now a Brrrrrrrr-ing

Getting scared now! Sleeping with all the lights on tonight 😂

After last nights strange noises thinking someone was in the house in the early hours , just heard a noise in the conservatory . A decoration has just jumped onto the floor by itself :mystery::mystery:
