I have the key to the other acceptable pub for tonight, as he won't be there until late. I am tasked with opening up, starting the fire and servicing any patrons who may appear.

I managed to turn on the illuminations.

And I got the heating going - and established that the dispensing apparatus was functional.

I did manage to deal with the clientele that ventured in, without summoning the gardaí.

Bloody snow coming down thick this morning ! The one day of the year I didn't want it , I need to get this water job sorted once and for all . :(

If the insurance workmen actually manage to turn up (last time they drove from Wales) , can see me putting them up in the spare room if they get snowed in .

Edit.....men are here ....yay!

Is it snowing in Stafford?

It's been snowing in the borough all night. Must have warmed up a bit at some point though as the roads are completely clear.

2 blokes and ony one spare bed....they'll have to top n tail overnight if these roads don't clear. 😂 (Same ones from Wales and it was bad there yesterday as well apparently)

Well they've turned up but 20 minutes later still sitting in their van at the top of the drive, after refusing to back it up into the drive to save getting stuck when I went out to them. Good start..... can see a few more complaints from the neighbours .

Done my usual DIY fixing with decorating masking tape :D ....spotted a gap through one of the PVC conservatory outside doors and a draught coming in where the ' furry stuff' seals it when closed. Can you buy the 'furry strips' or do you have to get the double glazing people out to it?

Insurance blokes have dug another crater in the middle of both gardens , discovered the leak is somewhere between that hole and the other crater on the neighbours land that they dug last week. Going to dig an even bigger hole now, and ''mole a new pipe through to connect both ends".

Don't begrudge them almost finishing off the tin of biscuits with their coffees. Not a job I would like to be doing in this weather, lying face down in clay and snow , and now pouring rain.

Cheers for that :)

I'm bloody despairing here and wishing we never managed to get a viewing on this house! Things not going to what seemed the solution plan ....digging a 3rd crater in the neighbours lawn now :hmm:

Oh god I've been asked to tell an embarrassing story on 5live tomorrow on a show I like. I've been asked twice before, said yes the first time then no the second due to nerves but then felt like I'd let fear get the better of me so built myself up to say yes again this time.

Funny how I'll avoid phone calls *at all costs* unless it's to either my mum or the nation. No inbetweens!

I was fine being interviewed over the phone for the radio if it was done in advance but not if it was live.
Similarly for Midlands Today I was at ease filmed in advance.

Smoke......national grid van been. Now sending a National grid digging team who will have to dig up the road as well and turn everyone off to do it. Then hopefully we will get the water reconnected again once national grid done their thing. Hubby working away like mad to get his work done before his desk top etc go off.
Next door have had no water all day either with him turning theirs off.

Just done the quickest suitcase pack ever with spare clothes and all out meds incase of evacuation. Normally takes me a week , done it in seconds 😂

No one told them this is Staffordjas they have come to do work for 😂
