I really miss the Stafford accent and really look forward to hearing it when I'm home!

Being in Scotland EVERYONE asks where I'm from and I'm very proud to be a Staffordian and fly the flag!

However... if anyone mentions the word 'Stoke-on-Trent'....
I didn't grow up in Stafford and haven't quite lived here for fifty years but have never really thought that the town has a recognisable accent in the way that Stoke and Cannock either side do.

To quote my mum:

'In Stafford we speak the Queen's English'
Hubby's dad ( west Brom) always used to call me " that posh tart from Stafford " when I first met him. 😂

I bloody HATE hubbys accent .. ( He comes from a rough estate where they speak their own even worse version of it!). I'm sure he puts it on more to annoy me ( as he can speak more 'normal" on his work calls).

Son has picked up the Worcester accent since being here 9 years..

Think we must have really p1ssed the water gods off! Son has been having to have showers around ours these last few days as he had water coming through his kitchen ceiling from 2 leaks under the bath .:( His plumber can't fix until tuesday. Luckily our water is fixed now (and my fortnight average readings ended on Saturday , been eeking the water out for 2 weeks to get a good leakage rebate and suddenly 3 of us showering  )

And the good news ....a voicemail from Severn Trent..... working on amending and crediting our bills right back from when we moved into the house in July , based on the last fortnights readings , as realise they've had to fix loads of massive leaks/bursts on 'their side of boundary box since then.. . AND....we can claim leakage allowance again if needed in future. as they aren't applying their 'one time only claim limit' in this case.

How big is the shower? Would all three fit in at once?

:help: Please tell me we haven't got a ghost  , and these things just randomly break off and jump onto the floor.:mystery:

Haven't touched it since we moved in, just left it on the Max setting it was already on.

Just walked into the bedroom to close the bedroom curtains , no where near it and it fell to the floor :hmm:

Tried to just push back on , but failed.
Just messaged the plumber who came to our rescue last week for the loo....says snapped off but he can easily sort it for us with a new head and safe to use the central heating til fixed . PHEW! He's got to fix sons leaking bath first ....we're keeping him busy between the 2 houses. At least he answers his phone & messages straight away , even late at night each time.

Should be attached to the silver ring thingy underneath on this photo .... but snapped off on it's own . (Unless our seller knew it was broken & just left it ledged on :hmm: ) :mystery::mystery:

They've fallen off nearly every radiator in our house. Mind you our central heating & boiler are 20years old.....radiators still work fine (apart from the living room one, which I think is full of silt).

Had son climbing step ladders trying to put the conservatory guttering back up for us , when he came round for a shower. The pigeons and magpies are using it as a landing/launch pad , and obviously been feeding them too much as they've brought one whole section down

I've been summoned for jury duty! Anyone done it before? The possibility of having to hear upsetting details aside, I'm oddly looking forward to it, should be an experience.

Twice now! The first was gory as it was for the coroner's court. And I was excused for one hearing as I knew people involved. The 2nd time was just normal court, I only sat 2 cases that time but both very interesting, and thankfully my just service only lasted 2 weeks each time.

Of course you always have the chance you won't get chosen. You have to attend as per instructions, but may not be drawn for the actual cases & sent home. Or you may be sitting around all day long just waiting, take a book!

I did it a few years ago. Delayed initially. It wasn’t a nice case at all but I did enjoy the experience. Bit of an eye opener

He'll be booking an exotic holiday just on your callouts. He'll certainly look after you.
