Mundane facts about your day: Part Deux.

I haven't done it for years, but, when they introduced the extra scamming charges, my plan was to pick people up from the railway station car park, after they had used the shuttle thing to get that far. It was (then) still possible to do that without feeding the scam.
If I'd have checked the national news beforehand , I'd have found out that all UK airports arrivals have been affected and in chaos...

Next time Im going with my original plan of stopping off in Hopwood services until they are out of the airport .

Midlands airports really do rip you off.
When I got there I had a walk to the drop off exit barriers where the prices are displayed , to see what it would cost if I overstayed my 20 free minutes ( well 15 minutes actually as there was a big queue to get off the carpark so allowed 5 minutes to get out of the barriers).
Up to 5 minutes over = £4
5-10 minutes over = £5
10-15 mins over = £10
Etc etc rising to a whopping £35 for 35-40 minutes over.
Then additional £5 for every 15 mins over that...

Moving to the short stay multistorey at £7.50 per hour ( or part of hour) was the cheapest option !

At least I got to nip to the loos once parked up , before then hitting the bank holiday queues that had then built up for the journey back. One expensive wee! 🤣

I went for my first long bike ride of the year today. This involved transiting a dangerous zone.

I stopped at this point, to do a comprehensive risk assessment. This resulted in me deciding that, in the current and immediately expected weather conditions, I might be able to proceed, with extreme caution and continuous reassessment.

I passed an isolated house with this venerable gatepost.

As old as it looked, the plaque on the front was dated 2015.

I will endeavour to find out what it's all about...
Care home most likely, from the stethoscope and walking stick.

In Luton you can park up, help them with bags to the main terminal, say goodbye at security then still have plenty of time to get out for free. If over 2 hours it was a fiver at Stanstead iirc.

Used to get Poveys from Aldi in Stafford. Buti Aldis around here don't sell them.

The ones in the supermarket packets are not a patch on the ones I used to get from the corner oatcake shop in Hanley, still hot off the massive hotplate ( or whatever it was called) when I was a kid.
I used to be sent to buy ''O'' cakes , and thought it was "old cakes". None of the fancy fillings in those days though, just the basic oatcake served to take home to have with breakfast.

The hole in the wall went a long time ago, way before covid.....maybe 10 years ago? That was a 'special treat' for me....not.

Can only get them in Sainsbury's down here and then only sometimes. But we take what we can get. I am sometimes lucky to find that they have loads in the reduced to clear section.

That's a thought.....had so many left on friday with todays date on they might still have loads left to clear . (I've already filled a lot of sons freezer up with 'bargains' as mine's full though... ). Should have brought my little ancient rusty , but still working , chest freezer down with us when we moved instead of paying someone to scrap! This new fridge/freezer we bought when we moved in might be easier to get stuff out , but rather limited on space.

And yet luton Airport is free parking in the mid stay for 2 hours irrc, stanstead the same, both with free shuttle buses. Midlands airports really do rip you off.
They used to do free parking for 20 minutes at the premium drop off at BHX if you charged your car, but since the prices ramped up they’ve stopped doing it

I’ve had the odd moment where they let me out for free for some reason, but not recently

Errrm....going paperless for bank statement, it wouldn't let me view on the app but had to download to Google drive.

Scary thing is.....looked on google drive & couldn't find my bank statement there. BUT....told me that @Gramaisc , but named him by his real name, had changed a document today and it marked his location on a map

Don't know where my bank statement has disappeared to , but if it comes to you @Gramaisc don't spend it all at once! 😂
