Mundane facts about your day: Part Deux.

Good luck!
Thanks. Was all a bit of a non-event TBH, we heard horror stories about the FCFS system and them running out of spaces very early on, so we arrived at 7:10 ready for the 07:30 opening and there were about 20 in front of me - reminded me of the fight to get a british doctors appointment TBH! All very civilised, join a queue and show your passport and letter of decision, and they give you a ticket. Different starting numbers seemed to denote different reasons to be there, and some codes appeared to have higher priority than others, but I was seen within the hour and took maybe 10 minutes to sort as mine was straightforward.

I was worried not speaking the language but they were pretty good themselves and anything they didn't know easily they said to my wife who translated. Annoyingly the only things she wanted to see were my TB results* and my medical insurance, completely ignored the police check I spent £55 on or the money side where I'd took 7k from a CC and put it in my bank to ensure I could say I had enough funds! Unfortunately my insurance started when I applied so doesn't cover the full year, she did all biometrics for me anyway and my card will be ready to collect Friday as long as I can present insurance to cover the rest of the period. Just did that for €10 so all being well I get my residency officially in 2 days.

* TB results I got by walking into a clinic Monday after lunch and saying can I get a test please? Was having a chest x-ray within 10 minutes, and results were available by 5pm the following day. Cost £38, which is apparently about £4 higher than last year. When you consider this was a private clinic and I am known to be a foreigner with no medical cover I thought that rather cheap.

Glad I've not gone "modern' using my phone to pay. ...😂

Our absolutely rammed packed Tesco suddenly made an announcement over the tannoy. "Only cash or chip & pin card payments being accepted , no contact less."

Massive queues wirh loads digging cards out but not remembering their pin.

About 50+ trollies parked up at tills whilst everyone relying on phone payment went home to get their cards.

Utter chaos ..... lovely to walk past the queue, zap our self scanner pay the old fashioned way and off on our merry way.😁

(Wondering how many WERE going to return for those parked up trollies ,as the Petrol station was also closed off so probably gone elsewhere for petrol & food on their way back home)

Enjoying a drop of red.
A good part of today was spent mowing the lawns. An even bigger part of today was spent getting the bloody mower to start...

Done mine too, just now.

Started on the fifth pull, having last run on the 23rd of November.

Quite a bit of growth...

Had the same experience at Tesco in Welshpool today, fortunately they put someone on the door to warn shoppers.

Bet the store near us wish they'd have got on that tannoy earlier. I'll avoid the nearest placed back on the shelves in the freezer/fridge isles for a few days. So many trolleys abandoned the fridge/freezer stuff would have been out for a while.

Hard work walking around the store depending on hubby to scan & add stuff with both arms & hands unworkable !!!
I'm used to racing around full pelt , getting what I'd intended & out ...

Hubby hasn't been out since my fall ( I've had daytime meal/coffee meet ups with mates helping) amongst hospital trips.
So off to town we went , for enjoyable few pints & cocktails.

Managed to get a pint pot to my mouth ( 2 handed head over glass on table method 😂) without spilling much .

Hard part was waiting for someone to come into loos to open door , that I'd backed into with my bum , to get back out 🤣

We both enjoyed our impromtu night out :):D
