Today someone gave me a bible.

It was a family bible belonging to my maternal grandfather's family. Goes back over 200 years and to my 4xGreat Grandfather. As the family lived in Hampshire, then London & the Home Counties it is still a puzzle how it turned up in a skip in Helston, Cornwall.

That's lovely, and quite a mystery although both you and I could guess why someone might have gone to Helston.

Had a message from son , who's in Liverpool for the victory parade as his mate is a supporter. A car has driven into the crowd 😲close to him but he's thankfully ok. Glad he sent me the message to say he's ok before it's just come on the TV on Sky news , but devastatiing a number of innocent happy people out celebrating have ended up as casualties 😭

Just found out how close son actually was when I've seen news photos with him right by the car in Liverpool. 😲

Now loaded hubby's last lot of work equipment and files ready to be collected by UPS tomorrow to be whizzed back to the Germany for 5 others to take over his job of the last 35 years. . Been an emotional day as he's been on the phone all day to customers and German colleagues wishing him well in his retirement .
Car loaded with his tatty chairs , un-needed (in Germany) files etc that he insisted on keeping until the end. ready for the tip . Got son to help smash it all up to transport it all so that it couldn't be sneaked back into the house 🤣

Now a spare bedroom to attack , I daren't dust or hoover near the wires for 3 years in case I dislodged anything and couldn't get it working again.

Anyone who has met me, will know I'm more Hairy Biker than St.Delia or Nigella Lawson. This evening, I have channelled whatever Good Mummy vibes I have, and I've made the youngest some Ginger Bread Cats - about 40 little cats heads. I don't have a cutter for a Ginger Bread Man.
The last time I did these, they didn't last 4 hours between him and the eldest.
I really need to polish up my halo.

The gap on the right was boarded over by the time I finished work... They had a mini digger in there & had been digging up the grounds outside the building...

After being woken up by our ring doorbell alert at 6am with a man pushing a charity bag through , made me remember to set video for tomorrow afternoons Doorbell Detectives on BBC1.
Features a house in the next road to us that was burgled last October when the owners were on holiday (and the burglar later caught and locked up) . Will be interesting to see if its caught me on camera walking past as that's on one of my regular routes 😂.

I had a ten mile expedition this morning, to reconnoitre some sections I haven't done before. It was mostly OK and passable easily enough, but one bit was nearly blocked completely in the aftermath of the Big Storm. I did get through, but it was not easily done.

There was about 100m of this sort of thing and it was very hard to get over, under, through or around.

You can just see the steps that were part of the path there.

Elsewhere, there were nice water features.

Now, I have to go and open the pub, although he should be back later, which will reduce the length of the stressful evening....

Just opened an 18 can box of Magners I bought from Tesco last night , only to find one of the cans is Heineken. 😲

Thought I was going mad 🤣 At least hubby can drink it even though it's not his normal choice , just one less cider for me!

Today was the day for the annual recording of the sweet pea hedge, on the way back from Lidl.

And it looks like I can time it in on the same day as the recording of the wildflower verge that will also be done annually.

This was only started last year, but seems to have established itself very well.

Saw Poppy the cat 😍, who frequents my garden , on telly on today’s ‘ doorbell detecives’

The camera set up inside their house while they were away to watch her , in next road to us , caught a burglar and helped get him convicted.

You weren't caught on it though?

No 🤣 . Actually quite a good warning not to leave the patio door/ conservatory door key in the lock. He smashed the window , stuck his hand through , turned the key and was in within a couple of seconds.

Also later in program had a copper on showing how easy it is to burgle your home, what are easy pickings and what they are aiming for (passports, banking details which can be sold on , as well as small items easily grabbed ) and an easy escape in the car keys left in sight or in drawers to make their getaway in.

Worked out how to speak to son on doorbell while he was checking our house last night,

So tonight started making ghostly howls when I got an alert. Except it hadn’t picked him up arriving , just as he’d left and driving off. So treated the neighbours and anyone walking past in the woodland paths to ghostly werewolf noises 🙈🤣
