Not yet. Valuation & photos booked in so that it's ready to be whacked on as soon as we give the go ahead . Need to get a rough idea of price range we can splash out on. Good houses in a good area are hell of a lot more expensive down there and going super fast!

Probably a bit late to the party but don't go with an agent!!

We sold our house for FREE with Strike last year!

Why pay??

Don't think we have much chance of finding a nice house in the good areas we want at the moment.:( Got a bit of a bidding war going on for the good ones!

Got 5 booked in to view on Saturday now , but one has already got 24 other views on Saturday alone and it's going to highest offer by monday.:( The others have got lots of interest as well and lots of viewings booked in.

Another nice (and perfect if we had lots more dosh) detached which is now out of the question, with asking price at the very very top of our budget , has got 2 offers in already which are way way over the price (he wasn't allowed to say how much , but could say it's a lot! )

Still....it's a day out in Worcester , we can get an idea of what's out there, and we can use sons house for a base , as they are all close by , and see him when he finishes work. :)

In the meantime , now that our house is clear of visible clutter , I've fell in love with it again and will be sad to go .

Just got lots of "Where is?" to put up with for a while as hubby doesn't know where anything has been squirrelled away to !

Have you actually got your house on the market yet? If not then I'm afraid I can't see anybody taking you seriously, I'm afraid. Certainly not in what is most definitely a sellers market.

I had a little blue tit tapping away at the kitchen windows this morning for over half an hour. Kept alternating from bottom to top window , but flying off into the tree before I could get photos each time.
Was he pecking at the window or was he picking at bugs? Every so often the house sparrows go on a window purge around the house looking for bugs and end up tapping the windows

Got to agree, it’s deffo a sellers market. My lad recently bought. He was looking for a 4bed in a village area eastish of Stafford. He’d already sold his old place. Most houses he was interested in had already been sold more or less within a day or 2 of listing The first house he saw that he was interested in sold for £345k (30k over asking price) he dropped out at 310 due to work needed. He paid 350 for the house he finally got & that was 15k over asking price. Sellers & agents weren’t interested in offers from anyone who hadn’t already sold & were ready to move.

So, I went out to 'collect' the roads that I failed to traverse yesterday - it didn't seem as bad as yesterday, but it was a rather nicer day. Two of the roads I know I've definitely never been along before - one is a 'long cut', that you just wouldn't bother using, unless you were going to a house along there. The other is a half-mile-long dead-end, with no buildings on it at all, just agricultural access, really. I suspect I may never traverse either road again. The other roads are ones that 'go across' radial roads from here, so also wouldn't be used much. This means that the north western sector is complete for now, and I can move into other 'missing' zones.

I do suspect that I lost about a kilogram on the ride today, almost all of it in the form of snot. I hope that this will bode well for the immediate future.

Another related sub-project is to record the remaining roadside pumps in the area. There are rather more than I expected. A few have been relocated for decorative use, but most are still in place and a few of those are still functional, usually given away by a "Not for human consumption" type notice.

I found two more today - this odd, ambidextrous one -

I only spotted that as I had pulled off the road to allow a tractor the size of an aircraft carrier to pass.

Later, I found this one, in its original location, with matching bicycle in local sporting colours.

I have, so far, spotted about twenty five, within a six-mile radius.

There's a pump like those in Walton on the hill.

I couldn't see any bugs , I'd just cleaned the windows so he might have been addicted to the window cleaning stuff ....

The blackbirds were making a good job of re-dirtying the patio windows this morning , splashing around in the bird bath. First time I've noticed them splash it that far. Too busy to go out and re-clean them as had an appointment to get to, but thought it's dull day anyway so not noticable...until the sun came out just as the estate agent came taking the photos and looked like I hadn't cleaned them in months!

When I was about to put my house on the market back in 2020, estate agents wouldn't even let me look at certain houses without an offer on my own. Their loss.

We used to have a Blackbird that sat outside on the lamppost shouting 'I've been to Birmingham' for hours every single day.... It nearly drove me insane.

Could have been worse. It could have been a Geordie, singing ♫'I've been to North Shields.'♪ :P
