One of the houses we really liked yesterday , one of the most expensive but fantastic (and I wouldn't have to sling half my furniture, infact we'd need more for the luxurious conservatory ), needs the offers in by Tuesday. Bit worried though if we put an offer in , it's accepted, and then one of the houses coming up this next week (as told by other agents) is just as nice at a lower price that we would be wishing we had hung on til the weekend to view them instead. :hmm:

Really didn't need to be worried about all the viewings I was doing myself today ! Everyone who came looking were lovely. Only 2 more days of viewings to go to keep the house tidy , before taking everything out of hiding.
The ironing board did get discovered hiding in the garage behind the car once though. I couldn't fit it back in the shed hiding place this morning

Did they find where you'd hidden hubby though and more importantly have you released him yet? 🤣

Are you suggesting prospective buyers would dig up a patio?
You don't know how close you came there !!!!

I was up til 2.30am cleaning up the glass of blackcurrant squash he'd knocked over before going to bed, all over the kitchen sides, carpet, cupboards, curtains . So close to whacking the hammer over his head!

Risk I want to take as it would be such a comfortable house and very well maintained. A lot bigger than all the other houses, bigger than this one here and with a garage as well.

Hubby is like this with holidays and everything. Takes ages umming and aaaahing and then agrees that I was right all along. I'm ringing their agent in the morning ;)

Eldest & my grandson came over straight after work, we played rock, paper, scissors, poo....... New to me! 😂😂😂💩💩💩

Poo seems to be a favourite word at the moment.
I can never get that game , suppose I could if I really wanted to but seems stooopid to me so I just wind hubby up by acting stupid when he attempts to teach me

I didn't get on with Deezer so I gave Tidal a try and much prefer it, it's quite like Spotify in terms of presentation and everything transferred over easily enough. Got a premium sub on that plus Pocket Casts for podcasts and I think I'm sorted now.

One Stafford estate agency, when we were looking to buy our current house, actually said to me "but you do understand your wife is Hungarian don't you?" When trying to justify that their mortgage offer was so much more than anyone else and that we should go with them because my wife was Hungarian and nobody else would touch filth like us.

She got most offended when I told her to FRO. And even more offended when I had an enormous rant at her boss (who I vaguely knew) which got her sacked.
My wife was trying to buy a flat when we met. She'd offered the asking price, they agreed the sale, but then kept dragging their feet and even relisted the property, all while telling her it was still hers but there was a holdup and with her being foreign it'd be much easier if she used their mortgage company.

She moved in here after the third date, also told them to FRO, last I saw they'd dropped the price by 10k.

Edit: she was actually still trying to buy it, was close to her work etc, but when covid hit we decided to pull the plug. Especially as we found it listed again

What does ‘FRO’ stand for in the above context ? I googled it and found this :

Thank you! In the context it was used I assumed it was a legal acronym. So ‘FRO’ is a notch above plain old ‘FO’ ?

The concept of estate agents using mortgage companies is so bizarre… why would anyone take it? It’s never going to be the best offer.

One agent wouldn't let me view properties with them unless I sat down with their mortgage brokers...

The wait time was two weeks! I had a mortgage in principle but they wouldn't accept it, in the end HSBC had to ring them and tell them what for.

I think the main issue with estate agents is they don't have an ombudsman or overseeing body - they are just a law unto themselves!

They get commission and it can be worth more than the house sale, the estate agents aim is not to find you the right house. A mate had a very similar story to you, he told the estate agent he'd contact the seller and ask why they will only let him use the estate agent as the mortgage broker, they immediately allowed him to view but with an EA not the actual seller as is usually the case.

Thats something, I swear EAs used to actually go out and see people, now it seems they just advertise it and the seller does all the showing around?

Spouting nonsense since the day I learned to talk
Surprise surprise... you have to pay extra for the agent to conduct the viewing.
