That's a shame, its been recommended to me by 3 people now.

Suggestions anyone? I used to see the lovely Sikh (Im presuming this as he wore a turban) gentleman at Hillcrest, he was a very excellent dentist & the best I've had since Miss Suleman in church Lane went private (also very dishy, so distracting from dental problems), Hillcrest changed hands during covid and I believe he's no longer there.

Please don't suggest that butchers across from the police station, I had a horrible experience there....
My neighbour goes to Hill crest, was NHS with them for years, but was knocked off their NHS list because she hadn't been for 'x' amount of time. ( because of covid when she couldn't get appt!)
She has now had to pay private fees since , told there is a waiting list with them to go back onto NHS ,and quoted £150+ for extraction in addition to consultation fees already paid.

I've been with Mr Goodwin in Friars Terrace for 36+ years since him & Mr Simpson(now retired) started. Lots of new dentists there now which I've had to see for emergencies these last 2 covid years & not impressed! New ones just trying to flog private hygienist checkups & other treatments whilst there.(I paid for one lot which Mr Goodwin later said was waste of time with my teeth.)

Same as @littleme
I used to go to Hillcrest, I am terrified of dentists, but that very easy on the eye Sikh gentleman made me ''less nervous'', I even had a tooth out, 10 years of pain gone!
The one opposite the Police station is vile, More Sweeney Todd than Dewhursts butchers to be honest.
Could really do with a nice one that's taking on NHS patients asap.

There was a fairly confident prediction of rain by mid-morning here, so I got up early to cut the grass. I spread that on the two barrow-loads of shreddings I got from a hedge job yesterday and did a bit more shredding. Then, I tilled the plots to chew in all this debris.

The rain arrived, on cue, just as I was putting the machinery away, so I came in and had a late breakfast.

The 'rain radar' is a real asset, I could see it drifting this way and time things accordingly.

A day in the Shed beckons now...

The morning was spent mowing the grass and associated gardening near Stafford. The late afternoon will be spent doing the same in Formby, assuming we don't inherit your rain.

After packing and sealing 43 boxes, 4 big cases and a holdall so far towards the house move, now glad I did it myself and methodically made a note of what was in each box and where the box was stored.......had to unseal a couple so far to get needed things out again.
Glad I didn't go with my idea of slinging the whole lot in the tip if it was left to me , as " If we can live without whats packed away for the next few weeks we don't need to cart it all down the motorway ".:blah: Won't tell hoarder hubby I've actually needed something in the boxes though. ;)

The carer just called me outside to see BAT! We've not seen bat in a while, but there it was, flitting in between the houses & over the common. We used to see 2 bat's years ago, big bat & little bat, clearly different species, but happy to fly round in each others company.... There's not been 2 in a good 3 years now. 😔
There are usually plenty of bats around the castle this time of year. About halfway up the main path there is a bit of a clearing in the trees. You can see them flying there or along the edge of the tree line at dusk.

Astonfields "Lakes" is also a good place, as is Doxey Marsh and the river around Fairway.

With an audio detector, you may discover that there are more about than you can see.

Did a Triathlon.
Well done @Lucy ! :)

Something I couldn't have done in even my good running days! I couldn't jump out of the water and get on a bike or start running. Would have to take half an hour getting myself dried and changed to do the next wobbly bike part.
( By which time I'd have already been half an hour behind, only being able to do breast stroke rather powering it with front crawl  )

I'm getting it in the neck at the moment as I can't remember what box Ade's dibbers went into when we moved. As only the kids and I seemed to pack anything and he spent a long time doing sweet FA apart from complaining I had a lot on my mind. How could I not take care of his things he says? I'm sorry love, but my own things were shoved in boxes and I still don't know where half of it is, just be grateful I bothered packing YOUR stuff and it made it here. Grrrrr.

I made a dibber in Mr Champion's wood work class at Kingston many years ago. It turned out to be a Demon Dibber !!! Whenever it was used to plant something, nothing grew of it, it just disappeared into the Earth never to be seen again. Pity it wasn't a bit bigger, could have come in useful for getting rid of bodies.:P

We had a family picnic at Kelmarsh Hall just off the A14 j 2, north of Northampton. Takes about an hour and 15 but truly lovely.

Private house with masses of free parking in a field with amazing views across the countryside to a little church. The carpark is adjacent to the toilets and house, so no long walk like at Shugborough and a really beautiful walled garden, landscape and walks around both. Totally dog friendly as well

The cafe is part of the main building and has lovely tables on the front lawn and serves a wide range of snacks catering for vegans and other dietary requirements.

It was so refreshing to go somewhere quiet, even on a beautiful summers day there was only a handful of visitors, that had we not chosen to go in to the walled garden would have been free.

Recommended. Highly!

I've got a hubby who thinks everything is magically going to pack itself as well. I've packed 44 boxes, 4 big cases and several holdalls myself so far as well as cleaning everything in the shed ready to go.
I've made lists of things I've already packed , and still taking ages finding things I've had to dig back out again as I've been a bit too hasty.

Working through the food cupboards and freezer , trying to have as less as possible to cart down the motorway . Had to do some improvising as just wasn't going to dig the Glass bowls and mixing bowl out again after being so carefully wrapped up.
So the scales bowl became the jelly dish , and the big plastic measuring jug became a mixing bowl for the bread . It worked though :D .

Made a loaf to start using up the full baking basket (bought on a rare 'I must start baking again' day, and everything remained there ever since! ) and it came out so well for a change . Making another one tomorrow...

Day off.... Diabetic nurse appointment.... 'youre not diabetic if you keep taking the diabetic tablets', hairdryer blew up, Boobygramme time at county hospital, hairdryer, food and plant shopping, planned a bbq but weather decided against that.... And finally, FINALLY, the car settlement came through.... Only 2 months & 9 days after the accident!
