Mundane facts about your day: Part Deux.

Jonah

Spouting nonsense since the day I learned to talk
Slipped over on ice twice in the last two days. Thankfully no lasting damage but bruised knees from first fall and jolted back from second.

I’m blaming the stupid coating the council put on the paths to cover up the crap surface underneath. It’s deadly when it’s icy.

Enjoying a drop of red.

It was well icey this morning. The pups did not appreciate it one little bit.

Same, I'm out most mornings at 6.30am, it's been horribly slippery of late, thankfully I've not encountered ice in a bad way while driving, just while getting to & from my car. I have to admit that I'm terrified of falling & injuring myself. A work colleague is off work at the moment after having a hip replacement, horror of horrors her partner slipped in ice and fractured (something) only a few days after her op and is now stuck in hospital waiting for his operation on tuesday.... Terrible.

Spotted the perfect house for sale, perfect location , and price stretchable to...... but a year or so too early ! Given me hope now though that there might be an affordable suitable home for us in a good area in Worcester when hubby retires after all.

You should buy it & move there to get it ready for when hubby retires.... You'll be just round the corner from son, and hubby can stay in Stafford till he retires... 😉

Oooooh....... possibility of working from home has just been thrown into the mix until retirement , if we see something grabbable...

(Needs to have an office in any potential new home though if that's the case, where I can lock him away for the whole working day. He was more in danger of being killed by me than covid for the 16 months he was working on the dining room table last time! :teef: )

My plans for tomorrow.....spring cleaning , just incase like.... ;)

Worked my day off again, I originally offered to do this as I would have an extra day off in the week (with the added bonus of not having to get up at 5.30am) it's never happened, but I shouldn't look a gift horse in the mouth...... Tired.Com though

The second-nearest acceptable pub is three miles away by the shortest, main road, route and open Friday to Monday, so, it being 'settled weather', I headed out there on the bike tonight.

It was a bracing ride, but I survived, and the usual suspects were on hand there, upon my arrival.

By the time I was able to escape, the temperature had dropped a good bit below zero and the landlord's daughter used that as a ploy to offer to 'drive me home' - obviously, I wasn't going to fall for that sort of manoeuvre, and I cycled home, with my virtue intact.

It was bloody cold, though!

With a clear sky and a blazing Moon, it would have been quite easy to cycle home with no lights, apart from annoying the odd oncoming car.

“we should replace our kitchen cabinet doors” has turned into “we should replace the oven unit to add a drawer, and replace the floor, and maybe the counter if Magnet have anything on clearance…”
I feel your pain. We've gone from "we could knock through from the kitchen to the dining room" a wall with no cupboards, cabinets or appliances. To "we could take the opportunity to have a new kitchen" The (unacceptable) quote is in.

Went to see my new dentist yesterday who I am now convinced is a psychopath after subjecting me to a thorough teeth cleaning despite saying I didn't need it. It was *SO* painful!

Weirdly, the electrified feeling in my gums afterwards was quite invigorating as much as it was uncomfortable. I felt like I'd been flossing with exposed wires and brushing with a cattle prod.

Thinking the state pensions department are hoping that I'm going to snuff it before they have to pay anything out!

Just rang again to check that the request for my awards payment, which they had somehow forgot to do that part their end, was now actually being processed (as promised by an operator last week).....

"No , I can see you have been allocated an award from your 66th birthday, but no payment's scheduled on the system. I can see she's made a note to request an award letter from the awards department again last week, but it hasn't been done "

Aaaaaaarrrggggghhhhh!!!!!!!!

The operator today has now supposed to have requested it again .....

With the weather looking trustworthy, I headed to the woods.

There were some periods of quite intense sunshine.

The main road through the wood was devoid of traffic, except for me...

I found this odd, unidentified 'memorial'.

In one area, there are gigantic clumps of Clematis, reaching up to a good fifty feet.

When I got to the main river, I found that the cable car seemed to be having a lay-off for the winter season, and there seemed to be no recent test certificate on display.

Further downstream, I found a better potential crossing point - the fallen tree was fairly balanced in the fork of the tree in the centre of the river and it seemed likely that body-weight might gently lower the far side to the ground, should one venture across, but, not having a bit of string to avoid the 'bridge' resetting and stranding me on the other bank, I decided to remain on this side.
