Wandered along the canal to the Baswich Riverway Link event for a great morning out . Managed to get on and off a canal boat without a dunking. Only banged my head once  whilst descending backwards down into the inside bit (whatever it's called...) to get through to the pointy end and back. An enjoyable & peaceful 35-40 minutes sail along to Radford Bank & back . A mooch around the stalls , followed by a long leisurely walk along the tow path in the other direction back home.

Had to drive a 60 mile round trip to Barnstaple this morning, for a COVID swab test !! This is a requirement before I start chemotherapy on Tuesday. It took about 20 seconds to do and then I jumped in the car and drove back. Going was fairly easy, coming back not so much, lot of holiday traffic coming south ... but ... I was in no rush.
Whatever happens, don't tell GG as I wasn't wearing my bacofoil hat so now I've probably got some Government Control Chips implanted in my brain. (Good luck with that one little chips, I've never been able to figure out how it f****** works ...:heyhey: )

I was today years old when I realised that the bird song at dawn sounds very different from the bird song at dusk. Dawn song is more 'wake up you lazy Barstewards' where as dusk is more I'm knackered now so I'm going sleep'
Also must say that we have a blackbird that sings in the evening that sounds like a drunk R2D2😂.

I was watching a fledgling sparrow on the lawn today presumably learning how to fly. His/her parents flapping around and screeching (a sort of Sparrow Air Traffic Control.) I kept feeling I should go out and give the little fellah a hand, but I'm told you should not to this, they've got to do it themselves. From within the conservatory I kept shouting instructions, you know, 'drop your under carriage' ... 'full flaps when landing' but it didn't seem to help. Garden is pretty well enclosed so he/she should be ok
It's like watching Top Gun Maverick !! or maybe that should be Top Gun Mad Max !!:embarrass:

It's amazing what we take for granted and don't realise until we slow down the pace of our lives. I also realised that the smell of the air in the morning is much different and fresher than the smell in the evening. The bird song can sometimes be a pain when it wakes you early in the morning but then when you allow time to think you realise how much it would be missed if it wasn't there.

As our bird feeders, and especially the water bath and water dishes being frequently used throughout the day , I'm worried for when they suddenly disappear when we move 😞

I've got no qualms in saying what a lucky man I am with everything I've got and the people that stand by me and love me. The thing I've come to realise is how much we unintentionally take these people and day to day occurrences for granted. I'm a lucky man who has started to realise all the things I'd miss if they weren't around me. I now long for bird song, smells of a dewy sunny morning, the sound and smell of the sea (god knows I'd live by it if I could), the sound of my children laughing, pictures from holidays past that still make me laugh, good times with those I love and day to day giggles with those that mean the most to me. Deep, I know, but I think there's a real tonic for all of us if we just slow down and remember the things that make us happy. 😊👍

It feels like the only good network in Stafford is EE…?

We just moved from EE to O2 as EE were bumping their prices only to find O2’s data speeds are abysmal - sub-1Mbps regularly which makes it basically unusable. Having asked the guys in the office to do speed tests the only speeds that were actually reasonable were from BT (aka EE)

I’d to know who my car is backing off as when I could barely touch 1Mbps in The Hough it was sitting at a tidy 160Mbps down, 50Mbps up

Spouting nonsense since the day I learned to talk
I moved from O2 to EE about 6-7 years ago. Not because of data speeds but because I was missing calls from clients as O2 were diverting them to voicemail without warning. They said it was a problem on my iPhone - which it wasn't. As for data speeds, EE consistently got better speeds than O2, so much so, my better half moved to EE from O2 as well.

Vodafone here, just did a test and roughly 200/10 which is much higher than I expected. ST16 area, got a 5g signal which I don't remember ever getting at home before.

So Vodafone has 5G but O2 doesn’t in Stafford despite sharing their networks?

Weird.

I stopped at a red light today - that's the second this month, things are getting out-of-hand.

If I had been in Stafford, I doubt that I would have stopped, but people here are a bit less traumatised by endless traffic lights, so it seemed worth making the effort, just in case.

It was a good move - there was a squad car heading in each direction on the road that 'went green'.

Phew.

A day late. I'm confused. Chemo-therapy Nr 1 started yesterday. It went ok, no problems and so far no side effects apart from a bit of tiredness. This I'm told due to the steroid tablets you take either side of it. What surprised me is the amount of take home medication I've received ... More pill boxes than the Maginot Line !!!
To top that off I've also been given 5 syringes which I have to inject myself with over 5 days into the stomach, either side of the belly button. They are the retractable stab and jab type. Anybody sees me doing that ... will assume I'm committing Seppuku !!! 😨
The nurse was very nice but she had never heard of Yul Brynner when I cracked a joke about hair loss.

I mean ... never heard of Yul Brynner .... WTF !!! Am I THAT OLD !!!
