Oh babe, why didn't you say earlier.... You've let me witter on about other random crap without saying a word. Are you OK, do you need anything, can I help? Don't ever not say if you need something! I KNOW WHERE YOU LIVE!
Dunna be daft! I went to work this morning. I managed ok.
I'm managing to breathe now without feeling like there's a tight band across my chest.
I've given birth 4 times, I'll be fine.
Thank you for offering though xx

I have returned safely from the pub, having ventured there into a blazing sunset.

At one point in the journey, I came across two chaps attempting to fix a flat tyre on their wheelbarrow. We had a discussion about the possibilities, but they seemed confident in their approach, so I left them to it.

For complicated reasons, in the pub, it was insisted that I accepted a bag of oranges and lemons. I successfully negotiated the carriage of these items by someone else, leaving them on my gatepost on his way past, as shoving them down my jumper would have been cumbersome on the return journey, but I then found another bag on the bike, so I still had to do that anyway - and I am now in danger of an impending Vitamin C overdose.

I had a fall on Saturday evening. Was walking back home from the car, after spending a few hours with the youngest at my sisters.
Went to put my foot on the kerb and missed, landed on the pavement face first, smacked the boobs on the edge of the kerb and both knees on the road, glasses went flying off the top of my head, phone shot out my pocket. Sat there for a few minutes, getting my bearings, bit shocked.
I swear I have cracked a rib, and right knee cap, slightly, and I have an enormous jet black bruise on the right boob.
Eventually struggled off the floor and hobbled home.
All I cared about was whether or not I'd broken my glasses, I hadn't, youngest picked them up for me, along with my phone.
Such a sad old cow me.

Had a drive to sons for a quick shower , as returned from our walk all sweaty to find we were the cause of our road and next road flooded and our taps have run dry.

Getting even worse since that photo

Unfortunately it's flowing off down the road rather than onto our parched garden (or maybe lucky , so the house doesn't flood as it's still gushing out 3 hours later. ). "We're on our way" from Severn Trent bloke . Must be a long way off as no sign yet!

A neighbour offered me to use her shower , but didn't like to take her up on the offer with not really knowing them that well yet. Took an old flask to sons for some water to take my tablets , which jerked his memory that he had a stash of bottle water from ages ago that I could have.

Hoping they realise now , when I get through to the billing team, that we may have had a leak all along when they told us our water useage was excessive for the first fortnight billed. Been cutting down on everything since then thinking we were going to end up with an even more massive bill with now having a meter. Hope they are going to knock all these millions of gallons spouting out off the bill .

Apparently , chasing them up, it's taking so long as the person logging it hasn't noted that we also have no water in the house. We are now suppposed to be on the priority list again....

Latest operators joking "Have a beer instead" isn't such a good one with me on antibiotics

It's like going back to holidays in Greece years ago when the water often went off, and putting tissues in the bin instead.

I'll be getting my bucket out to fill up from the 'stream' to flush the loos later (I'll wait til it gets dark first to save being the talk of the road 😂)

Well, it's one way to meet more neighbours. (One way I'd rather do without though) When they realised we hadn't got any water in the house , they've filled us up bottles from their taps.:)

Next thing will be the house flooded because hubby hasn't "I think I turned the taps back off" and they turn up in the night to restore our supply ....

Got water again now that the man has been out. The plastic tap thing on it , down the hole, had seared right off somehow and blown off.

BUT.....meter was still going around at a rate of 12 litres a day with everything switched off , and needs to turn internal stop tap off to check if it's a drip inside the house or outside pipe. Guess what......had to happen to us! Internal tap is buggered up and won't turn off . So got to get a plumber out to do that tomorrow, then the investigation team back out.

Nothing goes straightforwards for us 😭 but at least we now have water.

Think the neighbour next door, her daughter and her mates fancied the water man  . He had an audience , so think he'll be making sure he's on shift for our next appointment .

We flew from Gatwick to Bergin a few years ago and it worked out cheaper to stay in a "park and fly" type hotel rather than park at the airport.

The hotel looked after the car in a big field at the back, had comfortable beds, gave us breakfast, took us to the airport and collected us on the way back.

Also meant we had more choice of flights which saved a bit too.

Amazed at how may people I speak to down here have relatives or friends in Stafford.

If you have a relative working in Farmfoods in Worcester , and live in Highfields, she may well have been talking to StaffordJas ( The name rang a bell ....didn't tell her mine incase it's someone from my dark & distant past :ninja:  )

Discovered that as well as the stop tap not working , we have a leak in a pipe joint under the sink on the same pipe near to it as well. (All the tea towels, dusters etc in that cupboard must have been soaking it up and drying up fast in this heat since we moved in. ) Hopefully that's what was causing the meter to keep running last night when the water bloke tested it , and not a real costly leak on our underground pipes that we're responsible for.

So in a way the burst last night did us a favour discovering the faulty pipes inside the house before they needed to be isolated and we weren't able to . (Made me feel old though , when we got put up the priority list when hubby chased them up again after 5 hours with no water, and the case became classed as more urgent when he mentioned there's a pensioner in the house ....worked though :D )

Good plumber son uses , and gave me his number to ring this morning, is so busy he can't come til next week . But at least pretty confident he'll do a good job and won't rip us off....
