Rang around dentists on monday , to see if any taking on new NHS patients. One nice sounding one has just rung back......we're in! :D

(Only downside is we have to go for a new patient examination , and I'm dreading what they will find after all the work I've needed in the past and old dentist warned will need in future )

Preparations for further warm evenings and possible power outages continue, with a test run consisting of a pint of the funeral director's IPA and a trial of the massively impressive 'gas mantle' oil lamp.

The exhaust from the lamp is equally impressive, and it's necessary to ensure that there's nothing flammable above it...

I have little doubt that it would set fire to the parasol, given the chance.

I've gone into the Shed for a minute - and found that the Cellar Spiders are removing absolutely anybody that survived the Swallow onslaught the other day.

I am careful to keep my distance from them.

They look really delicate and harmless, but that is just a front to delude you,

I know romantic meals for 2 are out with me eating slow (I like to savour my food ) and hubby bolting his food down super fast. But couldn't believe it when I looked up from putting my salt & vinegar on this latest meal out , only to see his plate already empty! 😲

Wow! Surely now it’s only polite to start on yours, just to help you out a little bit :chef:

This always happens to me!

I'm a REALLY slow eater!

Often there is a shift change when I'm at a restaurant as we're there that long between courses / drinks!

When the wolf pack eats, the fast eaters get the most. The slow eaters gradually fade away. This is Darwinism.

(I am starting to wonder if this why most local restaurants wont let me in anymore. In fact they advise me to proceed forth in haste with reproduction in mind, or words to that effect.:P)

Glad it's not only me that eats slow. We can't even sit down and enjoy a burger together in the services enroute to a holiday. By the time I've got my wrapper off he's finished his. So I'm standing outside the car nibbling away eating mine, with him hopping from foot to foot waiting for me to finish. (I used my voucher and got free chips thrown in last holiday... every chip being watched as I ate them one by one , being willed to be swallowed quicker! . Me doing the driving he had to wait . )

As I was leaving the pub, with the door wedged open on the warm night, I noticed a mouse wander in. He had a quick look around the whole venue, in case anybody had dropped anything worth having, then he nipped back outside. Nobody else saw him and my assertion that this had happened was treated with some disdain. "Perhaps he was looking for a lift from you - ha, ha, ha".

So, I left them to their disbelief and headed for my bike - only to find him sitting on the carrier.

I forced people to come outside and witness this, and to eat humble pie.

He didn't actually come home with me, as three miles is probably a long way for a mouse to walk back.
