Mundane facts about your day: Part Deux.

This afternoon I was dragged kicking and screaming into the 21st century. I bought a new phone. It's a Galaxy A23 5G. Right now I have no idea what the doodah is, except I have unlimited calls and texts. It's in Black, I was after the nice Blue, but the O2 shop in town didn't have that in stock.
I feel like having a right little girls tantrum, not only did it take me well over an hour to type all my contacts in, it also means that my well loved Nokia 215 is giving up the ghost and is dying on me. Bloke in O2 even laughed at me when I said I couldn't trade it in online because it wasn't recognised. Cheeky git.
It does mean however, the youngest is well pissed off with me, he's having to come and show me stuff all the time. Just had him doing the ringtone. I've gone from the Joe 90 theme (old phone), to Blondie.
I'm still waiting for the number to change over, so can't use it yet. That will be fun. Luckily I've put all the photos of the cats onto the pc (with help) so they're safe.

Good luck fathoming it out @Glam :D

I've got Tescco mobile to transfer all my stuff over for me each change of phone since I've been with them. Then it's panic phone calls to son to sort out the rest. (How the hell am I to know that using 2 fingers on the screen does a different function to 1 finger....they don't come with paper booklet instructions these days! )

Once had to go back into the EE shop , when I'd got a new phone with them, as I had gone to ring son as I left the shop and couldn't work out how to ring someone on it .

Do spare a thought for us children of parents (and grandparents!) who get smartphones and tablets, we end up being unpaid tech support for several hours a week! 😂
Since moving to Worcester I do son's gardening , he continues to help with the phone and laptop. Not so frustrating for him now being close to do it for me , rather than tearing his hair out over the phone (especially with my tech language of " is that the squiggly thing? " etc 😂

I just realised I am 3 years older than Alan Shearer was when he retired which is mad because when I think of Alan Shearer the player he still seems about 20 years older than me!
I am almost 52. My head feels young. My body doesn't. Theoretically I am older than one of the golden girls in the first episode. I have days where I look at famous people from my younger years and I feel younger than they were then. I am deluded.

I'm 60 next year, not 59 yet though. I don't know what happened, but the life appears to have been sucked out of me over the last few years.
Yes I'm fat, I don't need Einstein to tell me that, if I had the energy and inclination, I'd do sumat about it, I have neither at the moment. I fell a few weeks ago and damaged my right knee, that is still hurting, I belted it on the door frame to my bedroom earlier, my swearing could be heard the other side of Stone.
I still feel 18 inside, Outside, I look like I was taken to Durbers years ago.

This year is my second stab at 30!

The first round was proper hardcore lockdown - couldn't meet anyone, pubs closed, not even allowed to venture out for a walk!

The second round (technically 31) was storm Arwen and no power for six days! No one could travel to visit, no heating or TV!

This year (technically 32) have high hopes for my 30th birthday!

Whilst waiting in a 2+ hour queue for my flu jab (which turned out to unintentially get Moderna whacked in the same time) I commented to the really old lady next to me that it was a much slicker operation in the Stafford vaccination centres where I used to live until recently.

Turns out she used to live in Doxey and Walton on the hill in her younger days. Didn't know Wildwood (estate didn't exist when I was growing up either) but knew Baswich. She was amazed that Universal, Lotus, GEC etc had all been raised to the ground . Had a good old chat with her and another couple in the queue by me , so it passed the time away a bit better.

🤣🤣🤣 it's like my day at work....there are so many Geordies & north Easteners living here it's unbelievable....they all know where I'm from, my family and the area I grew up in...its sooo strange...like there was a mass exodus from the northeast to stafford....not sure why...
