Soooooooo…….

I’m not a happy flyer, last trip on a plane was over a decade ago and in less than a week I have to get on a flight and spend 4 days abroad with work colleagues leaving the hubby and kids at home. I’m getting more and more stressed with each passing minute 😣 is it too late to back out?????? 😅
I didn’t back out!

Flight out was stressful delayed by three hours after boarding and turbulent, though pre flight nerves take off we’re the worst part of it.

Ive had an amazing few days getting to know people I work with better and experiencing an amazing city in a way I probably wouldn’t see as a tourist.

Flight home tomorrow, I’m missing hubby and the kids loads but I’m glad I got over my fear and came.

Though I’m tempted to stay rather than get on the plane home. Wine will help though!

Today, I set off on a circuitous route to achieve a range of things in one reasonably efficient journey.

Two of the points on the route would allow me to record roadside pumps that I was aware of, but were previously unphotographed by me. The second one, on the return part of the journey, is in on a road that I last went up in 1976 and I managed to get lost, by taking the wrong turning off the main road. I stopped to get my bearings for a renewed attempt and realised that I could see a previously unknown pump through a small gap in an overgrown gateway to an abandoned house - result! It would have been quite possible to walk past there without noticing it.

I also met a dog who I have met a few times before. He is a remarkably pleasant character. Unusually, he had a staff member with him today and, as a result, I now know that his name is Fintan, which I have found to be unreasonably amusing - I do hope that he didn't notice.

It was a famous question on What's My Line?

It's a Stokie thing, not of any interest to anybody from the outside world.

Saggars - containers to hold smaller items being fired in a kiln - after a while, the bottoms could suffer for many hot/cold cycles, and might fail, resulting in breakages - a tap would result in a sound which could be used to assess the soundness of the bottom of the saggar.

Really? It made it onto what's my line? The carer used to brush the powder off the saggar makers bottom knockers.....used for something in Rolls Royce I believe ?

I lived in Coventry for a while....Rolls Royce factory (airplanes) , also car & bicycle manufacture ......(black cabs, jaguar etc....)

My Gran in Hanley was a saggars maker bottom knocker ,and another job there Testing the crockery ( can't remember the name of it) in a China factory in Hanley / Burslem .
I remember her visiting Stafford Market, when getting off the Hanley bus to visit us, going to the China stall at the foot of the stairs leading up to the market cafe, picking up a handful of mugs between her knuckles and shaking them to 'hear' see if OK or flawed).

Yesterday had my second batch of this new chemo-therapy. Never mind 'weapons grade plutonium,' I think they're putting 'dark matter' into me now. However, the oncologist prescribed me a new pain killer called 'Oxy something or other.' Apparently it's narcotics based. I took a shot last night before turning in as my muscles felt they had a strip of barbed wire running through them ..
WOW !! I went out like a light. I must remember to thank her next time .... :teef:

A good night in The Paul Pry , chatting to people , and doggies  who know famous runner Steve Cram and meet him regularly in the pub on a Sunday. (Apparently he stays regularly in the nearby hotel that we used to stay in regularly, so probably met him without knowing 😂 )

I Can't run anymore with my dodgy knees , , but apparently they are after marshalling volunteers for races , so might go along. Especially as they meet up on a Sunday night in the Paul Pry for a few bevvies.....

Hubby ran against Steve Cram years ago in the national Cross countries.... Cram came about 4th or 5th - ish....hubby came about 2440- ish :D
