Yesterday's street party. The weather was fantastic - I was in just a t-shirt until about 8:30 - and a good time was had by all.
Nice to taste a good, British chip again, thanks to the Weeping Cross Chippie.

I didn’t step outside and I live in a terrace street so very little space out front. Love seeing the pictures, yes, to honour and pay respect to those people who fought and died for future generations, but also it has brought people, figuratively, together at a time when we are at our most distanced.
All of the pictures make me feel good about us in 2020. Where as others look at the pictures and....

Enjoying a drop of red.
Not the greatest of starts to our bank holiday weekend away. One of the slide-outs on the RV refused to slide out. Inspection showed nothing conclusive so I lubricated the mechanism. No joy. Checked that power was still getting to the motor. Yes. Rang the Thor helpline, waited 15 minutes in a queue only to be told at the end of it that I should take it back to the dealer (who is shut because of the current excitement) who will happily fix it for me, in due course.

Swore, repeatedly, which helped, then summoned up the years of engineering knowledge that I have accumulated both at Uni and self-taught. Marched across to the garage, shifted a few boxes of crap in the way and got 'the tool for any job' out if its drawer. Went back to the RV and, with much precision and care, whacked the motor with a bloody big hammer.

Et voila, one slide-out, now sliding out again.

And they say education gets you knowhere...

I later rewarded myself with a BBQ and a rather nice red.

Think lockdown & furlough has finally got to MrLittleme, he's currently researching methodist churches to visit after lockdown, apparently Stubwood is first on the list.
Strange. Hes a methodist but has never visited a church while I've known him....

Well I like a cafe! Not sure about this visiting churches though, I may well burst into flames as I walk through the door, being a confirmed non-believer.

I think the only other one we went to was in Islam, and I'm not sure that was Methodist.
I'm going to assume that was 'in Ilam'....

There is this interesting local one - I'm not sure if it's still 'active', but it had some work done a few years back.

Thought we'd fixed the front door with WD40 the other day when the locking mechanism jammed. Gone again today and no fixing it this time.... got emergency locksmith coming out. They say it comes in threes...last 3 days we've had sons loo, sons kitchen tap and now our front door. Hoping this is the last payout for a while and it's not 3 in each house!

At least having it sorted by a licenced locksmith wont invalidate any house insurance .
Its surprising how many overlook this when they do a DIY job and havent used the correct locks , door replacement etc.

Graphite powder better than oil or WD40 - long term it doesn't gum them up - if you can find s DIY store that's selling it at the moment.
Turns out it was the whole part of the mechanism needed replacing as metal sheared inside and lever inside kept getting stuck (or something like that) ...at least the actual lock was ok, so don't need to replace the keys.
Money for the holiday in Albufiera , which we should have gone on in a fortnights time , is coming in useful for paying all these workmen instead.
Would much rather have spent it supping cocktails by a hotel swimming pool though !

You can improvise your own by shaving it off a pencil and blowing it into the mechanism.

The materials used in some uPVC window/door locking mechanisms can be remarkably shoddy. I got involved in a window which was 'locked' shut, as moving the handle didn't allow the locking pins to withdraw from the slots. Luckily, it was one of an identical pair, so I was able to open the other and determine where to drill the frame to be able to lever the slide bar along far enough to open it and take the mechanism out. It was clear the the still-working mechanism was close to doing the same thing, so I replaced both - the chap I got them from did tell me that there is a lot of variation in quality and I bought his recommended make, though I can't remember what that was now. I don't have access to that house now, but both windows are still in place, although I can't say I've seen them open lately.

Couldn't even close it today, never mind lock it so definitely wouldn't have been covered by the insurance .

Only got the door less than 5 years ago from Glass & Glazing (Stafford) Ltd, but the 10 yr guarantee doesn't cover the locks & hinges etc (the parts most likely to need repairing) for that long. Don't even know if they are still trading?? Looking for them on the internet today found...

That's what happened with our previous front door years ago. It was locked shut with the 5 locking bolts stuck inside the slots and couldn't get into the house as I'd left a key inside the back door as well. Blokes coming out to repair it had to climb up and take out an upstairs window at the time (scary how quick and so easily they got in , the way double glazed windows were installed those days)

Didn't you have to go in through the garage....
