Ours isn't that sophisticated, we still have a old back boiler, so our heating and water can only be set to 'on' or 'off', we can set it to come on once a day, or twice a day, but its not temperature controlled. :ohno:

Wow! That's like the olden days. I didn't realise people still had back boilers! I've heard Central heating is a nice modern invention :D

I can't believe this is still a popular thing. I grew up in a council house without heating and with a rediffusion switch and back boilers felt old fashioned even back then!
My brother in law who lives in Yarnfield still has storage heaters, not everyone has access to a gas supply.

It's not about gas, I like the modern storage heaters, it's just I didn't realise back boilers we're still a thing!

I have mine on all year. If it gets cold it fires up, if it's not it doesn't. Never understood the point of being cold. It's the temperature outside that matters not the month of the year!! And before any one asks, my gas bill for heating and water is thirty seven quid a month! Cheap I'd say!
Same here, it's only set to 17 though (and thats a compromise for the GF from the 16 it was at!)

What I find frustrating is that the only variables in my income are my salary if I get a payrise and any bonus I get so what can't we have a system whereby you just have to update what the changes are.

Also I'm on PAYE but still have to fill a form in every year but my peer group colleagues don't???

You shouldn’t have to fill it in yourself unless you opt to (my dad did once because work cocked up his tax payments and he was owed a load of money back or something like that... it was a long time ago) or if you have a P11D benefit and your employer doesn’t pay the benefit in kind as part of your PAYE (yes, surprisingly that is an option...)

Can't get the Zoe App working today. Is anyone else having problems with it ? (All I can find on line is an article saying it hasn't been affected by PHE technical issues today14th Oct )

Edit....uninstalled and reinstalled ....works now . Rather worrying the current estimated active Stafford cases showing 579 today , but it least it's down very very slightly from the whopping 594 last night that it shot up to :hmm:

That's it! I've put the heating on.

Yesterday I decided that I couldn't be bothered to work from home in my spare room which I've had set up as a mini office for several years and decided to sit on the sofa with my laptop.

It was rather chilly so I decided to fetch a duvet to keep warm rather than turn the heating on. Bee decided it would make a nice bed so crawled underneath and whilst I went into the kitchen I could hear her rolling around and I thought she was having fun.

When I returned to the living room I found a walking duvet complete with a wagging tail inside it wandering around my living room.

Bee had somehow managed to get inside the duvet cover but all of the buttons were still fastened and to make it worse I couldn't find the buttons side to let her out :)

So why is Stafford so bad compared to neighbouring areas? Is Covid more out and about in the general population here or are there largish clusters such as the prison or outlying farms?

Without this context, the figures are frankly totally meaningless.

Yes they’ve got an outbreak at the prison. Last week it was accounting for a third of all cases in Stafford (apparently) but I don’t know this weeks percentage.
