That reminds me of waiting in for BT to install a new 'phone.
It was installed next door and so another appointment had to be made.
Glad it's not only me then

Beginning to think I'm going to wake up in a minute and all this delivery fiasco has been a bad nightmare.

New printer linked up to laptop great (Im getting clever at this ;) )

Come to set it up on hubbys works desktop..... needs security clearance passwords etc from IT in Germany to save anyone hacking into their works computers system

Brainwave ....Way around for it for tomorrow until the German IT guys sort it, he forwards everything to my laptop and I print from there. So had a trial go tonight to see if any security 'thingy' let me print off the documents or not.

Since he's logged on his system and seen new orders that have arrived since friday , I've had the whip out getting him doing some work .

Given me something to do to save being bored . I've had to sit here on the laptop printing them all off . (Because I'm the clever one  )

And, has she got the rest of @staffordjas 's parcels....
That's what I thought... I'll be watching to see if any M&S bottoms appear on the washing line...

Several times I've luckily been waiting by the window looking for Amazon , son orders on his Prime for me so lets me know exactly when the van's approaching our road. I've seen them walking down her driveway , ( even though we have 2 massive numbers on both our front door and garage clearly seen from the road) some have realised half way down that it's the wrong house. Others have been about to knock and I've run out and asked if they have anything for me. They look at number again and "Oh yes , sorry this one is yours . I've come to wrong number. "

Can't believe she opened the door, let him put it down inside her hallway , said thanks, and closed the door. Wasn't even in a brown cardboard box, it was in it's original packaging clearly showing it was a bloody great big printer. Surely you'd think hang on a minute , I didn't order a printer :hmm:

Amazon bloke was in a state of panic when he realised what he'd done .

Had she shown tendencies of being either thick or dishonest in the past?

Errmmm.... not known her to be dishonest :hmm:

Just glad the DPD blokes can read house numbers. Would have been devastated if sons flowers and choccies , along with the crates of wine they delivered successfully the other day had been readily accepted by someone else instead.

Reminds me of a job I had when contracting to BT replacing drop wires on the Pear Tree Estate in Rugeley. One house I was in was occupied by what looked like Neanderthals who as far as I could tell were burning the doors in the fireplace to keep warm. Yet next door the house was immaculate and as I was drilling the wall a little old lady was hovering over me with a dustpan and brush. The dust never made it from the drill to the carpet ....

Had to ring hubby's boss tonight , as our little printer has taken such a hammering all year with work stuff it's conked out.

I rang on my phone , ok'd buying a new one and had a nice chat.

Then his " lovely speaking to you" at the end, got my "Love you " :embarrass: ( that used to saying it ending phone calls to son ). Hoping he thought he'd misheard

Shouldn't have got up super early out of the goodness of my heart to get the internet ,which went down late last night , back on , and switch all works computer stuff on etc ready for hubbys IT guys to take over computer as they're an hour in front .
Hubby has a lie in til his usual time, comes down last minute and switches the power off to it all thinking he's turning it on !!! Aaargh
Blazing argument because it's all MY fault. :blah:
I swear I'm not going to help him out ever again , he can do it himself......
Watch IT guy taking over remotely , asking for model numbers and connection types etc.
Hubby hasn't got a bloody clue , so I have to help in the end and tell him what to type/do .

AAARGH!!!!!! I should have stayed in bed!

Bob,
Yes, and that Pear Tree pub (Ansells) was as rough as a bear's arse.
Neanderthals burning the doors in the fireplace to keep warm reminds me of replaced window frames burning in the fireplace of a Penkridge pub not many years ago.

Ending up having a fantastic morning in the end , after getting a drive out to collect my M&S order.
Met a lovely lady walking her 2 rescue dogs in a doggie pram , and had a good chat. She said it made her day as well having a chat to someone for a change as she lives in a flat on her own.
Felt so good actually going into a shop again for the first time in months , that nipped into an empty Poundstretcher on the way back to the car .
Then seeing the Co-op carpark almost empty, decided to continue my brave enjoyable shopping spree and did a shop in there as well.

Feeling human again getting out of the house , encountering sensible social distancing people on my trip , and might just venture out on a monday morning again .

Thanks for saying you found Mondays quiet in Marks @Carole I chose the right day to pick up my order :)

I don't know if NFTs are something the wider public are even aware of but, #ReclaimTheseStreets aside, its all my feeds have been full of for weeks in the professional art world.

In short, it's a form of blockchain "cryptoart" (like cryptocurrency) that is incredibly bad for the environment. A single piece of NFT (non-fungible token) art, sold and stored digitally has a carbon footprint equal to, for example, a return flight from London to Rome. But people have been making millions off it and so a lot of people are going there. (more info: https://blog.duncangeere.com/the-environmental-cost-of-cryptoart/)

Anyway, have to laugh.... DC (publisher of Batman, Wonder Woman etc) have jumped on the bandwagon and they sent a letter out to their artists recently telling them not to sell their own work (a right usually granted to comic artists when working on the publisher's intellectual property) as NFTs. Now somebody has taken a photo of that letter and is selling that as an NFT.... highest bid currently just under $1,000.

Stripped the beds , created loads of washing ....... washing machine has decided to pack up!

Flooded out the carpeted kitchen (all open plan so the carpet goes all through) trying scooping out gallons of water , including checking filter but ouldn't get anything under it enough to catch much.

So , a basket full of washing and a soaking wet and soapy duvet cover I've dragged out dripping wet is now in a plastic bag outside.

My usual life saver Tom Sturgess isn't working at the moment due to Covid shielding . :(

Thankfully after hours of trying to get someone, and no-one answering their phones all day, found a number jotted down from ages ago as recommended by Tom . No idea who gave it to me, but sounds nice and coming tomorrow. :)

Pah !!

I've crossed the real Bermuda Triangle many times. The things I've seen: huge sea monsters, vast whirlpools, multi-dimensional portals that lead to other bizarre universes.

(Good stuff that Four Bells Rum.) :P

Finally sorting some usable shed space and clearing some junk we’ll never use again I found my Aloe Vera plant that I’ve long since giving up looking for. It’s literally been in a box since October 2019 (when we had the kitchen done) and it has survived.

Not only that but it’s had lots and lots of babies! Icing on the cake was finding some hyacinths I was bought last year coming in to bloom as well.

I must be getting old because this has made my day!

edit: original plant is in the one in the white pot, looking very sorry for itself, I’ve cut it right back to a healthy (but stubby) looking plant, no idea if this is the right thing to do or not.

My Aloe Vera was banished to the spare room, mostly cos I don't know how to look after it, surprisingly it's still alive. Any tips on how/where to care for it?

2000AD released the latest Judge Dredd epic in collected graphic novel form today, which included a cover I drew for the weekly (coloured by another artist) in the covers gallery, meaning I got to see my name in print in one of their full graphic novel collections for the first (and probably last, as I'm moving out of comics) time.

Grew up reading that comic and it's the reason I wanted to be an artist so very chuffed! :)
