I've just done a few little jobs for an old dear and she's mentioned an issue with a door, which can swing into the back of the door in an adjoining wall - it has already knocked a little flake of paint off where the handle has impacted it. The other side of the damaged door is a small bureau. so I have shown her the sliding stop that supports the drop-down flap and suggested that we get something similar, but rather more substantial, for the errant door, which will prevent it swinging far enough to hit the other door.

Luckily, she is not an internet person, so I have come home before I Googled "door restraint" - I suspect that she may not have the use for some of the equipment that Google has suggested might be suitable...
Another alternative meaning that I was utterly unaware of...

With the recent Gagarin anniversary and the demise of Michael Collins, I realised that I could not come up with the names of even half of the chaps that went to the Moon.

So, I decided to refresh my memory and Googled "apollo crews", hoping for a concise list

I was presented with a picture of a chap wearing a costume that would have been of little use on a Lunar excursion.

Thinking I'm too nice and too much of a mug ! Had my new washing machine booked in since saturday to arrive & be installed tomorrow , so been hand washing clothes etc in sink til then , and building up the towels in the washing basket . Phone call tonight at 8.30pm saying they realise I'm booked in for tomorrow , but as 2 more people from Stafford have since booked for thursday , could I change mine to thursday instead to suit them. Mug me says yes , to please

And I had planned to do a quick clean in the space occupied by old machine as it was being wheeled out , before the new one was wheeled in. As I've got appointments thursday morning and it will be down to hubby to supervise, can see any crumbs staying there until the next machine change...

At least my electrician and plumber arrived as scheduled today and we now have a working shower again . Yay  , one thing gone right at least this week!

Hoping with the saying 'it comes in 3's ' includes the 5 cans out of a sopping wet case of 18 ciders arriving burst and empty. ...Got a replacement on those, so hoping that's the 3rd thing!

On the plus side....son's got a couple of days off and visiting Monday. Managed to book an inside table for a meal & drinks for a couple of hours that evening :) (as long as the covid lateral flow test he's booked before he comes results in a negative result!)

Oh good, we have bees in the wall!

I kept seeing them hanging around the underside of the upstairs windowsill (just one or two at time, usually one) and thought there was something attracting them. Today I realised there's a gap between the window frame and the brick which I presume they're going into, as I can hear them right on the other side of the wall.

I have the late Alan Bean and then I am stuck. I could name at least 10 Fall members though.

Good news, bees are generally relatively cheap to remove, as beekeepers will come and collect them to put in a hive. Not always free, but probably cheaper than pest removal (and you shouldn’t be killing bees anyway!)

Not sure if that’s something @Sbisme does but they might know someone who can do it

To be honest I think we're going to leave them and close up the gap when they leave in the autumn, since they're bumble bees. That seems to be the prevailing advice I've seen online, as they're not (currently) causing a nuisance (I have a thing about bugs in my room so I *never* have that window open anyway) though I'll happily hear any advice to the contrary.

We've had them on and off for years now, often in different places around the house and garden. Not seen them this year so it might be an off year or I just haven't seen them yet. They never do any harm, never leave a mess and don't come into the house when they've been in a wall. They were in one of our composters last year, they even let us go up to them and a couple of times we took the lid off. So unless you poke them they won't even get defensive. We really enjoy watching them though. My advice is enjoy them while you have them and they'll move along come autumn.

Something happening at the Beaconside cop shop, they're all lined at the edge of the road leading round from the Weston Road gate.

Either they're going in heavy on who they put in front of a firing squad, or someone "important" is visiting

Edit: well this is awkward, funeral procession…
