Was boasting to my husband that I was asked to remove my mask in ASDA so the cashier could check I was over 25 when buying wine!!

Because I'm over 60 I never get asked for ID but sometimes I like to have a laugh, show a bit of personality.

So when buying wine I usually say “ Do I need to show you ID”?

Once this guy looks me up and down disdainfully, shakes his head and goes “nah”.

I felt faintly ridiculous so I never say it now.

Mind you he probably hears it a million times a day.

I'm sorry, its a 'roll your eyes' moment (without the customer noticing) , especially when it's some dodgy bloke fishing for compliments. However, I have ID'd 45+ year olds, and I continually ID a bloke who's in his 40's that was originaly one of the stores managers (before my time)...

Just so people know why we ID you, we can get a personal fine of between £500 & & £5,000, a criminal record, loose our jobs, the store 'could' be closed or loose their license... We really don't do it for fun!

*so sorry @Carole, and just so you know, we do play along with the 'nice' customers!

Hoping this a worm , rather than a baby snake slithering around the patio devouring the ants .....

Enjoying a drop of red.
So, last Friday I nipped up to Doncaster to get a part for my Honda CBX. Transaction done I was on the point of leaving the dealer, when out of the corner of my eye I spotted something interesting. Turns out it was a Kawasaki Zephyr 1100. I'd lusted after one of those back in the day but no way could I afford it. This one had done 7400 miles from new and was immaculate with all the relevant docs to back everything up. Quick blast up the road seemed to reveal no issues.

This morning the guy trailered it down for me and I've been an excited kid all day with my new toy.

I had 'forgotten' to tell Mrs p about the purchase, as it is the 4th bike I've added to the collection since I said I wouldn't get any more... The air was blue with words in a language I don't really understand, when she saw it, when she came home from work. She has calmed down now and has even said she'll take it out for a ride at the weekend if we have the time.

Think I might have got away with it.

Again...

Weather forecast says possible thunderstorms down here in Devon so leaving a day early, possible overnighter in Cheltenham tonight.

We've only had 2 dry days this week down here in Poole , and even those were mostly cloudy and cold :(.
If we hadn't still got another week down here, I think we'd have been shooting back home today as well, it's raining yet again this morning.
Even the laptop seems so depressed it's decided to go on strike !

Hope you get better weather up in Cheltenham @Trumpet

The last few weeks have been a bit of a wake-up call for me… I need to take a break once in a while. I’ve been working flat out with minimal time off trying to keep things afloat for most of the pandemic, Tuesday was the first time I took a day off that wasn’t a public holiday or weekend in… well a very long time.

So, once our current project is finished I’m gonna rethink how much I push myself and try to take a bit more time away from work. Because I really, really need it
