No joy so far, paid £6 for a magners!
I have asked current residents - I'm not surprised. I can't think that I've seen any cider in the Netherlands. I did once drink some Belgian sour beer by mistake. I won't make the same mistake again

Ciderwinkel are in the city center apparently, as is somewhere that translates to apples and pears. Off to explore, probably after the dali/Banksy exhibit.

I couldn't get a cider in Mainz. Germany the other week. Apparently (according to german work colleagues and every bar person I spoke to)no one drinks it over there, so it isn't stocked..

After last nights gallons of Magners at £3.40 a pint ( and waking up fully dressed on the bed this morning,
with phone still in hand and a hangover from hell) now drinking gallons of Estrella and Lime in a Torremolinos seafront bar:)

Hope you find a good cider tonight @tek-monkey

Best overheard quote of the week:

'Nothing says f**k you ISIS like Liam Gallagher in an orange cagoule'

#legend

I think the original quote was

"Nothing says Fu*k you ISIS quite like a snarling Manc in an orange cagoule and maracas"

Referring of course to his appearance at the Ariana Grande concert the other night.

Funnily enough Liam was wearing a cagoule when I went on a night out with him and the band 19 years ago... I did mention to him that they sold similar anoraks in Stafford market for about ten quid.

He thought I was hilarious.

We've been in Spain (Riviera) since Friday.

Chilled out for a few days....

Get up, read, eat, swim, drink, repeat .....

Yesterday took the car out and went to Alhourin el Grande, Coin, Monda and Ojen. (We always like to visit a town or village that we haven't seen before)

Had lunch in Ojen in gorgeous rustic tapas bar. Tapas 1 euro each, beer 1 euro each.

Today a friend drove over from Tarifa, we've been out for lovely meal in a Spanish restaurant with the mountains as a backdrop.

I'm now sitting on the balcony having a quiet moment.

Just me, glass of Vina Sol, and the only noise... backdrop of cicadas.

Lovely.

When I was working in Stuttgart 20 odd years ago people there reckoned there were still old farmers out in the boondocks who kept special varieties of apple & pear trees to make a a cider perry mix. If I remember correctly they crushed a mix of two thirds apples & one third pears. Never did find any of it though.
