After the wife won £200 last week we’ve taken to Bingo over in Queens...

More enjoyable that I expected to be fair.

That was the Route 91 shooting on October the 1st. Without exaggeration, very grateful that I decided for once not to subject my wife to something.

We had a similar ' thank goodness we changed our plans' experience when, after seeing a program on telly , we were going to go stay in Whitehaven and explore that part of Cumbria for a week.

For some reason we decided to go to Weymouth instead, and try Whitehaven another time.

Returned to the hotel during that holiday, put the TV on and got breaking news reports of the gunman going on a shooting spree in Whitehaven.

Someone who worked at GEC with me won £1000's there one night years ago when it was Gala bingo. ( Think it was called that at the time...)
Won the Stafford game and national one.

Hope you get a few more wins @Cue

We used to go to a shooting range on a Sunday morning and see what we could get a go with - eventually, it got a bit tedious and we decided to give it up for a while. The next Sunday, at the time we would have been there, a Canberra crashed into it, obliterating the area where we would have been, killing the three occupants of the plane and one person in the telephone exchange across the road that it also demolished.

My husband also had a near miss when there was the incident with SP Fireworks back in 2014. When we'd ordered the fireworks for the club display in August he had originally arranged to collect them after work on the day the incident occurred however about a week beforehand he noticed a scuff on his bumper so tried to arrange for his car to be looked at by the repair company also on Tilcon Avenue industrial estate (Chipsaway I think) at the same time, however they were booked up for that day so he re-arranged collecting the fireworks to the day before when he could get his car sorted as well. The incident occurred at approx. 5pm the following day, exactly when he would have been there!

Hangover free from yesterdays celebrations , but...

Been up most of the night with excrutiating pain in my ear . (After an inner ear op when I was a kid, and many really bad inner ear infections since, know that I need to get on top of it quickly)

After 45 minutes of constant 'line busy' from the moment it became active, managed to get through to surgery . After explaining problem, actually managed to get to go along at 12pm today to be in with a chance of seeing either a nurse or GP. Shouldn't be so excited at being able to actually get on that list, but I feel like I've won the lottery . Just hope I get seen now .....

Saw a rather thorough GP registrar who diagnosed fluid in the middle ear, caused by infection, but wouldn't prescribe more antibiotics as I've just finished a course for chest infection. Instead, talking of a ENT referral if not better by the appointment I've been given in 2 weeks :o

Take a trip to a chemist and see if they have anything homeopathic that can help. Belladonna might be the thing but the pharmacist will advise, if they're any good.

Will do later actually . Doc said steam might help, but plain water and not menthol. Got to watch what I'm taking because of possible interaction with my other meds . (Kept our local pharmacist fit over the years, he's done quite a bit of sprinting from behind his counter when one of the girls has gone to sell me a forbidden item)
