I think most retailers are pretty desperate to get customers back spending with Christmas (yeah i said it) on the horizon so they will back off any intrusive restrictions and just pay lip service with some signage although it would help if they would turn the A/C on to max and cool things down
Mask-free pounds are the same size as masked pounds...

Sons place is still keeping all the screens, masks & face visors, and covid working practices for the staff. But looks like it will be a free for all for all the customers who won't have to wear masks etc.

Saw somewhere that the Bird in Hand are going to stay with table service and no customers allowed at the bar, so I'm more likely to go there than anywhere else TBH. Not that I'll be going anywhere risky til my OH had had her second jab.

"After the MP announcement this evening, we have been in deep conversation. We have decided that it is paramount to protect our staff and our clients. Therefore we have decided that as from Monday 19th July we will still ask you as a guest not to stand or sit at the bar . We will carry on with table service at the moment . And our sanitation stations will still be kept in place .
Thank you for your continued support from Terry , Dee and the team ."

I have been mystified by the presence of a small pile of sugar on one on the bird feeding facilities. It's been there for a few days now.

I am the only staff member that they employ to maintain supplies and I had no recollection of putting it there, but I think I have now resolved how it happened.

This is a small satellite station, away from the main dining area. It happens to be near the bins and it sometimes gets residual items from packaging that is on its way to the recycling bin. A few days ago, I did shake the crumbs out from a box that had had an apple pie in it and I imagine that the sugar was mixed in with that.

They have carefully selected the healthier options and left the sugar in a neat pile, probably annoyed that I have failed to dispose of it for so long.

Either that, or they've brought it to you as a sweetener to bring the more food.

They may be on a diet or be diabetic. Try leaving sweeteners out instead :)

The last couple of days with the weather being nice we’ve had just sat in the garden reading our books, then in the evening, a simple supper then sat in the breeze house with a bottle of fizz playing Rummikub.

Not really interested in TV when we can sit outside until it’s gone dark and just chat between ourselves.

I get loads of gifts from the birds here - mostly on the car and the windows.

In order to maintain my hydration levels, I have ventured to the hostelry, as temperatures subsided slightly.

It has been a rather Mediterranean evening here.
